Jews are white people - You are correct it took attacks on a minority group to allow them to admit what has been going on. If the attacks had been focused on gays this might have come to light even sooner.

Agreed. That was actually happening in DC; black attacks on gays in the Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan areas.

After one particularly viscious attack on a gay couple in Adams Morgan it looked like the gay community was waking up to the problem. Mayor Gray very quickly held a press conference announcing his support for gay marriage. The fat community applauded, celebrated and went back to sleep.

But announcing support for gay marriage to distract from black on gay attacks is something that can only be done once. And it just kicks the can down the road.
