Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testifies on the hill, Wednesday, concerning healthcare.gov’s problems since its October 1 rollout. She’ll answer questions before the House Energy & Commerce Committee.

This is the committee’s second hearing related to the website problems. Last week, four government contractors hired to help build the site testified. Tuesday, Marilyn Tavener, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator, appeared before the Ways & Means Committee.

CMS is responsible for setting up the federal marketplace for insurance exchanges and the Medicaid expansion. Rep. Fred Upton chairs the committee and Rep. Henry Waxman serves as Ranking Member.

Mike Rogers HAMMERING her on security!

Should have been common sense to not go live with an insecure system.

Pull the plug!

HE ASKED IF SHE WOULD SHUT IT DOWN. SHE SAID NO.

Watch for Bill Johnson to continue the security issues today.
See description below for his experience. He will be toward the end of testimony today (as last time).

First 5:30 minutes is Bill Johnson – Congressman from Ohio who designed systems for DOD and private sector for a living before becoming a congress member.

GOP congressman in hearing are spending too much time on website and not enough on insurance cancelations.

I dont think they know how to argue against these mandates causing this.

Doyle/PA trots out the lie about R’s having no alternative plan. I remember printing out their plan in 1996.

***********
the title of the hearing is implementation - that’s important to stay on point.

The law should have been debated before, but Dems blocked it - Scott Brown elected and it went for a 51 vote in senate to avoid changes and debate.

It is important for staying on point - implementation issues.

Another angle on your question would be to ask: In what respect are they unreliable? What particular fields in the data are problematic?

There is no way Sebelius could or would answer this but her evasiveness would be telling.
