3 Girl Scouts went perv leftist a long long time ago

Always some newbies catching up to that fact.

OCT 1991 – GS-USA national stated in a letter:

“As a private organization, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. respects the values and beliefs of each of its members and does not intrude into personal matters. Therefore, there are no membership policies on sexual preference. However, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. has firm standards relating to the appropriate conduct of adult volunteers and staff. The Girl Scout organization does not condone or permit sexual displays of any sort by its members during Girl Scout activities, nor does it permit the advocacy or promotion of a personal lifestyle or sexual preference. These are private matters for girls and their families to address.”

GS-USA safety regulations stipulate that any father who goes camping with his daughter’s unit must sleep in a separate area, separated by a significant distance from the rest of GS-USA troop.

2/09/1993 – In Lansing, MI, the GS-USA fired heterosexual employee Brenda Mailand after she refused to sign the following pledge: “As an employee of the Michigan Capitol Girl Scout Council, you may not proactively inform members, parents of members, prospective members or parents of prospective members, or members of the general public (including media) of the Council’s and GSUSA’s position on sexual orientation.”

10/23/1993 – Delegates at the GS-USA national convention in Minneapolis, MN, voted 1,560 to 375 to allow girls to change their pledge of service to the spiritual power of their conscience - or none at all.

1995 - The American Heritage Girls (AHG), a faith-based Christian Scouting organization, was founded in West Chester, OH. Patti Garibay and other parents who started the movement stated they wanted a, “wholesome program for their daughters”, as an alternative to the GS-USA which voted to make optional any reference to God in their oath 2 years earlier.

1997 - Nancy Manahan’s book, On My Honor: Lesbians Reflect on Their Scouting Experiences, was published. On My Honor included an essay titled “All I Really Need to Know About Being a Lesbian I Learned at Girl Scout Camp.” In a 2000 “National Review Online” editorial (10/23/2000, National Review magazine) titled “The Cookie Crumbles,” author Kathryn Jean Lopez wrote that the book was “filled with coming-of-age stories sparked by gay encounters in the Girl Scouts.” Lopez further reported that “staffers contributing stories to the book claim that roughly 1 in 3 of the Girls Scouts’ paid professional staff is lesbian.”

2006 - The GS-USA national headquarters adopted a merger plan as part of a broader blueprint for moving the GS-USA beyond its traditional focus on cookie sales, camps, and badges. The plan to consolidate councils was completed in 2010 which saw 312 local councils merged/reduced into 112. Just as with BSA’s council consolidation plan in the 1990s, many professional positions were eliminated and under utilized camp properties were sold. Selling of camp properties created heartburn for many councils just as it did for BSA. Girl Scout cookie sales account for close to 80% of some councils’ revenues. GS-USA National recognized the need to develop other revenue streams.

2009 – GS-USA radically overhauled its program. Their older youth manuals were re-written to include environmental and feminist doctrines and proclaimed some historical female role models who were communists and/or lesbians. Religion, patriotism, and family life were de-emphasized.

3/11/2010 – An article was posted on the C-Fam website entitled "Girl Scouts Distribute Planned Parenthood Sex Guide at UN Meeting." It was written by Terrence McKeegan, J.D. C-Fam is the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute based out of NY and Washington D.C. The article was based on the written account in the Daily Caller by Sharon Slater of Family Watch International. It was widely read. The web-site, “Truth or Fiction”, , presented a rebuttal which contained statements from GS-USA National which confirmed that a contingent of Girl Scouts had attended a conference at the UN in early 2010 but the brochure in question (20 pages), "Healthy, Happy and Hot - a Young Person's' Guide to Their Rights, Sexuality and Living with HIV", was not part of the presentation. It was supposedly left behind from a previous meeting in the same room.

3/10/2011 – A Harris Poll was published with the results of the EquiTrend® Non-Profit Brand study. It showed that BSA fell below the national brand average of 60.2 indicating that the public did not favorably perceive the BSA. The GS-USA scored a much more favorable 66.8.

11/13/2011 - Houston Mayor, Annise Parker, 2010 – current, is the first open lesbian mayor of a major U.S. city. Her city hosted the GS-USA’s annual business meeting. GS-USA celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding by Juliette Low with a "Bridge to the Second Century" event on 11/13/2011 at the GS-USA National Convention in Houston and other sites around the country.

OCT 2011 - a Colorado GS-USA troop admitted a 7-year-old transgender girl, Bobby Montoya, after initially rejecting the child. The statewide organization released a statement saying, “If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout. In this case, an associate delivering our program was not aware of our approach. She contacted her supervisor, who immediately began working with the family to get the child involved and supported in Girl Scouts. We are accelerating our support systems and training so that we’re better able to serve all girls, families and volunteers.”

3/12/2012– During its centennial celebration, GS-USA national HQ announced an organization-wide campaign to raise U.S.$1-billion by 2017 — U.S.$100-million by the national office and U.S.$900-million by the local councils. The money will help pay for a new advocacy campaign to promote leadership activities for girls both in the U.S. and abroad, e.g., to encourage more of them to pursue science careers. The council consolidation plan, which was approved in 2006 and completed in 2010, added 1,850 employees to the pension plan. Many pension plans are suffering now because of the low interest rates that were introduced after the SEP 2008 financial crisis to help heal the bad economy. Some local councils brought a lawsuit against the national HQ charging that it exacerbated the plan’s problems by offering extra financial incentives to people who opted to take early retirement as a way to soften the blow of merger-related layoffs. The pension plan deficit has now ballooned to more than U.S.$400-million, and councils are being asked to set aside a growing percentage of their payroll to cover the losses.

6/03/2012 – A Catholic News Agency article accused the GS-USA of having filled their National Leadership Team and Board of Directors with unwavering ideologues whose careers, non-profit work and philanthropic choices reflect a hefty commitment to liberal causes – same-sex marriage, gay and lesbian rights, abortion rights, comprehensive sex education and ‘girl power’ feminism. Their liberal ideology drives everything – from program materials to themes to partnerships – even their view of leadership. It’s who they are. And it’s who the Girl Scouts organization has become. A partial disclosure of its board of directors revealed the following members …

 GSUSA CEO Anna Maria Chavez collaborated* with Planned Parenthood as head of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas
 GSUSA National President Connie Lindsey donated to the pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ Chicago Foundation for Women
 GSUSA Board Member Barbara Krumsiek is the Board Chair of the Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation which funds Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington
 GSUSA Board Member Monica Gil is a volunteer and former Board Member (through 2011) of the Saban Free Clinic in L.A., which provides “free and easy” birth control, emergency contraception, and abortion referrals to teens over 12, without parental notice or consent
 GSUSA Board Member and Executive Secretary Debra Nakatomi is International Commissioner to the pro-abortion World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and promoted contraceptives to Asian teens through California’s Get Real program
 Laurie Westley, GSUSA Senior Vice President of Public Policy, Advocacy & the Research Institute, previously worked for the National Women’s Political Caucus, a group dedicated to electing pro-choice women
 Joan Wagnon, the GSUSA Treasurer, Board of Directors, accepted large campaign contributions from late-term abortionist George Tiller while she was Secretary of Kansas’ Department of Revenue and praised Tiller’s “social conscience and … big heart”
 Ellen S. Fox, GSUSA Board Member from 2008 through 2011, serves on the Investment Committee of the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s Board of Directors

5/03/2013 – Warren Cole Smith posted an article in the Christian e-zine, WORLD, entitled, “Scouts in the balance: Will the Boy Scouts of America survive a double-barreled attack from atheists and homosexual activists?”

 GLAAD assessed the policies regarding homosexual members of 5 youth organizations: Boys and Girls Club, GS-USA, 4-H Club, Camp Fire USA, and BSA. GLAAD gave “badges of equality” to the 1st 4, but a big “No” to BSA.
