All of the above are insane, some more than others, but this one struck me because I've read quite a bit about this battle. While this was a military misadventure (due to BILL CLINTON and a Democrat administration who knew nothing about the military - sound familiar?), we were not defeated.
Our military went into the heart of enemy territory, armed only with light weapons, and stood off an enemy with nearly limitless firepower and manpower. They did this in an urban environment which favors the defender.
The kill ratio against the Somalis was something like 50 to 1, in favor of the US. Looked at another way, what the US Military (particularly our Special Forces) did was nothing short of a miraculous feat of arms.
Viewed from that angle, De Genova is essentially calling for the eradication of literally millions of people, if you do the math. But I'm sure, being a college professor, math isn't his strong suite.

I agree with a lot of what you wrote, but 1 small quibble - I place as much blame on POTUS #41 GHWB for initiating this intervention in the last month of his presidency. As I look back in the rear-view mirror, more and more I am convinced that the Bush/Arbusto clan is all in with the UN/ one-world government/ Bilderbergers/ CFR/ TLC.
