But only spirited irish can say whether or not that is the case in reference to her own statement.

While everyone else is using the terms thinking they have the meanings you find in the dictionary.

Thank you so very much, dearest sister in Christ, for posting Richard Lewontin's remarks. THIS is what I'm "anti," not science itself. I think Lewontin's statement indicates an abuse of science. And certainly it is clear that the statement indicates an "epistemically prior commitment": Materialism is "absolute." And it has to be absolute, so as to leave zero chance of any Divine Foot getting in the door....

But what kind of "science" starts with a stacked deck like this?

Lewontin is a highly respected professor of evolutionary biology and genetics, formerly at MIT, and now at Harvard. It gives me fits to think that two of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in America find him fit to profess biology to young, uninformed minds.

Oh well. The degradation of our culture proceeds apace.

Thank you so very much for writing!

Oh, thank you so very much for the links, dear 'pipe!

Jackie Evancho is simply amazing, bordering on the angelic....

I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful Thanksgiving, dear brother in Christ!

I think we'd all agree that no "science" starts with that kind of stacked deck. Given that, it's all the more puzzling why he (Lewontin) keeps getting quoted and held up as representative of "science".

Okay. It's specious on it's face. I'd never even heard of the guy until he was brought up by creationists on crevo threads here on FR. Beyond that, there is nothing that "everbody" knows, and I'll wager I can walk into work tomorrow morning and within a few minutes find a half dozen people who have no idea who he is.

Indeed, dearest sister in Christ, I am also against those "stacked decks" which are not science but an abuse of science.

Thank you for you encouragements!

“You’re trusting them to provide definitions of all the “isms”.

Spirited: There is no one, including you-—>tacticalogic, who does not ultimately place his trust, faith and hope in the veracity of someone else. For faithful Christians, this is Jesus Christ God Incarnate. For unbelievers it is other men.

It is obvious from your hostility-and-suspicion laced reactions that your trust-—your faith-—is in the inventors of the ‘isms’ to some extent, greater or smaller, and your stubborn pride refuses to accept that they are of dubious character, to put it mildly.

So what is an “ism”? It is a vain philosophy or conception contrived by morally and intellectually corrupt man to gratify some deeply felt need through deception of the gullible resulting in the empowerment the inventor who becomes in one way or another a cult leader. From Nimrod to Buddha, Swedenborg, Comte, Darwin, Karl Marx, Nietzsche, Teilhard de Chardin, Jim Jones, Sai Baba and other Eastern god-men, all are cult leaders promising some sort of salvation from the sufferings of this world.

Marxism for example, is a multiple level philosophy grounded in Marx’s hatred of and envy toward Jehovah God and His hierarchy of created order of being. As a further outworking of his envy, it is his death wish toward God’s spiritual image bearers.

So on one level Marxism is both a celebration of the ‘awesome’ intellectual powers of the Great Marx Himself (Pride of Mind) and a declaration of his triumph over God, meaning that Marx has “decapitated” Jehovah God and seized control of spiritual being so as to reorder it in gratification of his felt-needs.

This brings us to a second level of meaning: Marx’s messianic image of himself. Marx is the New Christ, the gnostic messiah, the man-god who delivers souls from the evil Jehovah, creator of the evil matter in which souls-—but his own soul specifically-— are trapped.

So on another level of meaning, Marx wants to liberate his soul from God. He wants to be a morally and intellectually perfect free spirit who can say: I Am I, I come from myself; I Am perfect in every way. I Am the New Christ possessed of the awe-inspiring power to create paradise on earth, so come to me, all you who suffer the gnawing, gnashing, grinding teeth of covetousness and envy and I will bring you peace and prosperity in paradise where all conditions making for covetousness and envy have been resolved.

This brings us to the real meaning and intent of Marxist Communism. Though it promises deliverance to the sinful masses its real intent is the deliverance of total power in the hands of the most terrible willed, the sociopaths and psychopaths whose monstrously inflated pride, covetousness and envy requires accumulation of all wealth, status, property, resources, and privilege in the hands of the few.

Ultimately, liberation of soul from the Triune God is why the terrible-willed Marx and many other rebels against the Triune God embraced philosophically materialist Darwinism.

Dr. Wolfgang Smith, physicist and mathematics professor at Oregon State University, clearly sees through the ‘scientific’ pretensions of revolutionary and/or modernist progressive liberal philosophies.

The doctrine of Evolution and Darwinism in particular, said Smith, is a gnostic myth. Its’ appeal is not scientific but spiritual:

“...As a scientific theory, Darwinism would have been jettisoned long ago. The point, however, is that the doctrine of evolution has swept the world, not on the strength of its scientific merits, but precisely in its capacity as a Gnostic myth. It affirms, in effect, that living things created themselves, which is in essence a metaphysical claim....Thus...evolutionism is a metaphysical doctrine decked out in scientific garb....it is a scientistic myth. And the myth is Gnostic, because it implicitly denies the transcendent origin of being; for indeed, only after the living creature has been speculatively reduced to an aggregate of particles does Darwinist transformism become conceivable. Darwinism, therefore, continues the ancient Gnostic practice of deprecating ‘God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth.’ It perpetuates...the venerable Gnostic tradition of ‘Jehovah bashing.’” (From Old Gnosticism to New Age I, Alan Morrison, SCP Journal Vol. 28:4-29:1, 2005, pp. 30-31)

Intellectually and morally corrupt men cannot deliver us from our suffering. Only our Savior Jesus Christ God Incarnate who shed His precious blood on the cross for the remission of sin can heal our souls and deliver us.

Then everyone will just make up their own definitions of all the words, and the entire discussion can descend into chaos. Does that work for you?

You make up your own definitions without regard to already establlished definitions that everyone else already knows. If you can do it, why can't everyone else, and what will the consequences be?

People communicate using words, which can be either written or spoken. The individual words have meanings, and the meanings that are attributed to the words are published in reference works called dictionaries. People use these dictionaries to find the meantings that are attributed to the words so they will understand what is being said, and what words to use say what it is they wish to convey.

Trolls and disruptors attempt to interfere with this arrangement and make coherent communication impossible, producing confusion and disagreement.

Because he is a representative of science, and a very vocal, well-published one. He is a highly credentialed biologist (evolutionary biology, genetics) working at one of the greatest institutions of higher learning in the world (Harvard). He is not some obscure "nut case" auntie in the attack....

Rather, he is highly esteemed by the scientific community, and is a man of great influence within it.

Did I answer your [implied] question???
