Why don't whites have black friends?

White people are products of their own whitewashed, sanitized environment. Black people have been systematically excluded from white neighborhoods. Black stories rarely surface in popular culture. The history of race in high school textbooks has been boiled down to a handful of bedtime stories about Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks. Try to tap into the average white person's feelings on race and you won't necessarily find feelings of hate and antipathy. You just won't find much of anything, no fully formed or well-considered thoughts about race of any kind. There's nothing really there. Even white people who want black friends don't know where to start.

I HATE threads like this. I am here sick as a dog and really didn’t intend to post at all tonight until I read this thread. Does anyone who posted here stop and think or realize how many black Freepers there are on this board? OR Jews like me? You can’t see their skin color but they are there and a thread like this is bait for libs to point their racebaiting filthy fingers and say, “Aha! Free Republic... Look at this.”
So our FRiends and fellow Freepers read a thread like this and don’t respond because they have been stereotyped in almost every way possible and think what the hell is the use.
Just like almost every thread that mentioned Jews that by the end of the first five posts blamed Jews for obama being elected.
What do you say to the black Freepers and the rather large contingent of Jews who have been here posting, supporting FR with words and bucks all along? Oh, we didn’t mean YOU?

I’ve had very few black friends. Just one in my entire life that I actually considered a true friend. I’ve tried to befriend black people and in most cases I realized early on that I was the one doing all the ‘trying.’ Nowadays, all I feel from virtually all of them is malevolence. I don’t bother with them anymore...there’s poison in the well, and I didn’t put it there.

Huh? DId you read my post? There is no correlation in my mind of what I have posted and what you posted unless of course your being sick made it a bit jumbled. My posts have been in support of people of ANY skin color, but I am also pointing out how racists white libs are as well as many black libs. So I really don't get your post at all.

I have black friends. I had a black boyfriend for 3.5 years. Where I lived for 15 years until last year, blacks were the slight majority over the rest of the races. Two of my son’s best best friends are black. Maybe it just depends on where you live.

MOST people are tribal and hang with those who share common experience and values. "Black Americans" more than others are more comfortable around their own. Ask them. And heck, most describe *themselves* with a hyphen, denoting separatist identity.
