The desire for the jury to give something to TM's mother will be very hard to overcome.

I don’t see her as a sympathetic personality. I think she appears angry and aloof.
I am thinking there isn’t a mother out there, including the jury, who would want or expect her son to be beaten until they were unconscious or even dead. I see far more reason for sympathy towards George.
