One week ago I left Hong Kong after it became clear that my freedom and safety were under threat for revealing the truth. My continued liberty has been owed to the efforts of friends new and old, family, and others who I have never met and probably never will. I trusted them with my life and they returned that trust with a faith in me for which I will always be thankful.

For decades the United States of America has been one of the strongest defenders of the human right to seek asylum. Sadly, this right, laid out and voted for by the U.S. in Article 14 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is now being rejected by the current government of my country. The Obama administration has now adopted the strategy of using citizenship as a weapon. Although I am convicted of nothing, it has unilaterally revoked my passport, leaving me a stateless person. Without any judicial order, the administration now seeks to stop me exercising a basic right. A right that belongs to everybody. The right to seek asylum.
In the end the Obama administration is not afraid of whistleblowers like me, Bradley Manning or Thomas Drake. We are stateless, imprisoned, or powerless. No, the Obama administration is afraid of you. It is afraid of an informed, angry public demanding the constitutional government it was promised and it should be.

C'mon people. Grow the F* up.
It’s Statism. It’s everywhere. It’s all the rage. Even here.
I. for one welcome our identifier for exposing our statist overlords.
Okay.
At least he didn't have to use a teleprompter... or have someone read it because he couldn't read cursive...
You overlook the obvious. WE are the #1 “commie country” now.
And everyone on the planet sees it but us. Rather ‘them’, the 53%. But Praise The Lord: the planet now sees it.
Like Custer: we have the Commies ‘surrounded’ right here!
All hail emporer Obama. Bow down before him and reap the consequence.
Perhaps it was his conscience. Sometimes that conscience can really bother you.
100% agree with your comment.
Freedom!!
I am hoping for a wave of “I am Spartacus” NSA/CIA workers
Imagine a flood of staffers each proclaiming “I am Snowden, and the Government is doing XXXXXXX to you”
When you read a statement from a celebrity or athlete, 99.99% of the time that statement was prepared by someone else — a PR person, an attorney, maybe a government official. The statement may reflect the person’s true feelings and beliefs, but someone is usually needed to formalize and polish those feelings and beliefs. That’s all I’m saying.
Much worse then that. Snowden admired Obama and voted for him in 2008. He was an obamabot. Probably explains how he got so far so fast. Then he learned the truth about Obama, that he was just one of the Oligarchs. So even people right now that Obama and his minions trust 100 %, could disappear and turn on a dime over night. They have no idea who to trust and what scandal will break next.
It has been so bad for the US that Putin just called a timeout out for sympathy.
The ammo is for the new secret police force.
Here’s the 20 countries that Snowden has applied for asylum:
Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Venezuela, Ecuador
I believe that he has also applied to Iceland and Iran.
False.
Snowden said he voted third-party in 2008. In the last cycle he gave $500 to Ron Paul. He also said that, after Obama won in 2008, he held off plans to make disclosures in hopes that Obama would live up to his campaign promises to end Bush's "abuses". But Obama disappointed him ...
Well, for one, for a guy who SUPPOSEDLY just up and ran. . .why was he met by a Wikileaks TEAM the moment he got off the jet in Hong Kong. . .
As for the grooming, google-search his handle theTrueHooah
And both Snowden and Julian Assange have played the “insurance” card, claiming encrypted files are out on the net, and if something happens to him, the encryption keys will auto-release.
There are too many parallels for mere coincidence. ..
He was in Hawaii such a short time that he went in there knowing exactly what he was going to do and where he was going to go - to Hong Kong, where Wikileaks met him.
Very likely so. For one, I'm glad he spilled these particular beans. There are other ways of fighting terrorism than wholesale spying on the citizenry.
Snowden might turn out to have been a double-agent or some-such thing. My opinion of him would change at that point -- my opinion on his exposing the NSA's operations would not.
Great applause for your comments!!!! Standing ovation!
The ammo is for the blue-hatted Russians and HS security forces.
