Florida’s stand your ground law has tort immunity. If a person is found innocent b/c of self defense. Then civil suits are prohibited as a matter of law.
This was to deal with the sleazy plaintiff attorneys that went after home owner insurances. In this case the HOA surrendered too fast. The lawyers they had were fools.

If I understand correctly, the FL “stand your ground” law (and doctrine) have zero applicability in this case, because they’re defending it under the self defense exception for a murder/manslaughter charge.
So I’m not sure there is anything to preclude a civil suit.
Whether they could *win* that suit is a totally separate question.
