***Caligula Defiled Rome....A Learning Opportunity***
Stardate: 1306.29

Posted on 06/29/2013 12:33:38 PM PDT by The Wizard

There I was, minding my own business and watching The History Channel about the atrocities perpatrated on Rome by the Boy King Caligula......

It was stunning to learn of the things he did in those 1400 days of terror..... and they kept comparing his dirty deeds asking: "....imagine if an American president did this...."

He never cared what anyone thought....his favorite saying: "...let them hate me, as long as they're scared of me"

He made a point of buying the people's love by giving them parties and gifts.....but if you questioned him, you died....and then he took your money...

Like all power crazed folks who believe they are gods, he turns on the Senators and those he used, humiliating them in numerous ways.........even making the Senator's wives and children prostitute themselves ....well...

It makes one wonder how much people can take before they have had enough......

But they always finally reach that point....

He only had 1400 days. The Occupier has been at it for 1987 days.

Show up and vote - then demand Republicans run someone with a spine - or conservatives sit home ...

Republicans MUST find courage! Unfortunately, however, they’ve not showed this in the last 2 Pres elections. But, people stayed home and look what we have and will probably have for a long time to come. imho, Romney believes in the American system of government and he would have been 100x better. but people stayed home. fire retardant suit on.

Republicans in Washington take advice from Democrats. Democrats tell our guys they need to focus on getting more black and Latino votes. And our guys listen to them rather than laughing in their faces. The advice is as stupid as Republicans telling dems to focus their time and money on getting the "white NRA vote". I wish democrats were as gullible as our guys....

Our message to the GOP should be to focus on the conservative vote. Because every time we all sit home they lose. And it's going to get worse...

And yes, Romney would have been better - but if Obama and dems were able to out-fox him - think what the world's dictators would do to him. Republicans should give up on running someone 'sweet' and acceptable to all... that loses in so many ways.

I also watched this on History again (for about the 5th time I think) and had some different, but related thoughts... sobering thoughts..

Everything the man did to them, he had the military on his side, helping, participating, killing and torturing...

Don't be fooled into believing our own military could never be bought off and led into believing.... that Roman army was also made up of the sons of the very people they killed and tortured.... just thinking to myself about the thought that anyone would have, could have assisted in the madness of this man, but they did....

I remember seeing this program some time ago.

The one really bad mistake he made and I have no idea how he could have been so stupid was he made fun of one of his Praetorian Guards.

I think he even did it in public but can’t remember for sure.

People stayed home in 2008 and 2012—looked what happened. You always have to disinguish not-so-good from terrible. Obama is terrible McCain and Romney were not so good. Until we get a really good candidate we have to accept what we get or accept what the Democrats give us.

The gays in the military would be the first to turn on us; that is why they are there. Their loyalty is only unto themselves, as is their leader.

After all the horrible things Caligula did to the Roman people, he was taken out by his own personal bodyguard because he constantly ridiculed the man for having a high-pitched voice. And his bodyguard’s cohorts were only too happy to assist in the assassination. Sometimes it’s the little things that bring down the monsters.

I don't think the horse's name was John McCain, because it was the entire horse which was made senator.
