Let’s get his logic straight, we can’t trust the IRS but we can trust the Intelligence Dept. to not go after the Tea Party. Sure Bill.

Bill Krystal was pathetic this morning in discussing the Govt surveillance scandals. George Will (ABC) wasn't very strong this morning, either.

You miss the larger point, as did all the Beltway talking heads today
++++++++++
No I didn’t. Nor did many of the talking heads.

The Obama Admininistration is not deserving of our trust. It really never was but given the IRS revelations there is no longer any doubt on that subject. But I don’t believe it is wise or prudent to extrapolate that legimate distrust of Obama to hamstring one of the key agencies of the Government whom we count on to “Connect the Dots” when it comes to major terrorist attacks.

We can change the law and put further limits on the reach of the NSA if that it what the nation wants. That is clearly the position of the great majority of the Freepers.

I’m simply arguing for a little caution here. We may need some dot connecting sooner than we would like. If I see any sign of abuse I could easily swayed to the majority position. So far I haven’t seen it.

(But I don’t view data collection as abuse. It the use of that data for political or financial advantage that abuses the system. Another point of likely disagreement with many Freepers.)

I hope to hell kabar is wrong for once. Few of these scandals will disappear....most will worsen. NSA may be nullified, but the IRS targeting is the one that hits home the hardest.

Benghazi truths could also have the potential to demonstrate Obie traded US lives for votes.

At any rate, the Tea Party is back in operation with a vengeance. I smell 2010.

House is in no danger, imho. A Senate win is unlikely today, but lots will go down in 18 months.

Coincidentally, we'll see if Rand's mention of Benghazi arms today on "The Sunday shows" causes any wider coverage in the rest of old media. They're not as compliant these days.

Yes. I get that the data might archived so when a terrorist is identified his connections could be be screened, but why does the government have to be the repository? Why couldn’t they contract with Verizon, ATT, etc. to have archives and then go to them with a search warrant?

Yes, you’re right. I’ve spent much of the rest of this week in the glorious outdoors tending my garden. I have it pretty easy now and work from home.

You do realize the "Government Employee Executive Order" and all that other stuff was a joke BUT

Obama would issue such an order in a flash if he thought he could get away with it.

I do. The manner in which they are doing it, in secret, with a widely-cast net is an affront to the Constitution. There is no probable cause at play here.

Wait. .do I understand that “someone “ in the government told George that the leaked is. a double agent? In other words -an enemy of ours? Seriously? That’s their defense?

Yes, you did. Glen Greenwold also said to expect more revelations. (more shoes to drop)

They all want to be thought of as above the fray and deep thinkers when in reality they are cowards. The GOP takes their marching or sitting orders from them. Too bad Rush or Beck wouldn’t go on one of those shows just once.

Pray for America to Wake Up

I’m betting you are not a big fan of the Census either. If so we finally have a point of agreement.

No, didn’t catch the humor but thanks for pointing it out.

No doubt he would issue one if he could!

The census is mandated by the Constitution, but the add-ons over the years go well beyond what is mandated.

This argument is available to anyone who wants to defend data mining—that only when relevant info is extracted from the big DB does the 4th amendment clock start ticking.

By the same argument, you could search every house in America looking for one suspected criminal and remain within the framework of the 4th.

Good analogy.

Intercept Point post #133: “But, AFAIK, there are no examples of political exploitation resulting from the NSA surveillance. That is Hayden’s point and I think he is correct.”

dirtboy post #141: “Add them all up and there is just too much potential for abuse, even if none has been done to date. The groundwork has been laid for that abuse already. This stuff needs to stop, and now.”

In all of this is it not plausible the NSA issue has been, and is continuing to be blown out of proportion by those of Leftist concern such as their shadow government, and their wholly owned MSM to divert attention from every other scandal exposed thus far?

From what I’ve been reading there seems to be a high possibility this is in fact a diversion, and in a timely thrust of propaganda just prior to the 2014 elections using as broad a coverage as they are currently using in spreading disinformation the entire NSA scam will be blamed on the Republicans.

Experience with these people tells me this is more than likely what they are doing. Downplay the scandals by covering them up with a sham, and blame the opposition. Works for them every time.

I don't know IP. Surely you have no doubt that the collecting of this data allows them to, badabing, take a closer look at political enemies? Since they have the data already and everything.

I'm of a mind that this admin wants us to know they're abusing the IRS to torment us. And why not? The IRS employees flip the public the bird, they dance and play Spock on lavish leaves, Obama didn't find out about it until he heard on the news.

They do what they do over and over and over again. Holder lies every time he opens his mouth and all the opposition does is sit around and jabber their tongues.

Nothing's happening but not to sound too despondent, I think this will result in a serious erosion in confidence of the public to politicos in general, to Democrats specifically.

I think this admin is right proud that they control us so, I think they want it out there. I think it will work, but only for a while.

The American public will get it before the blue blood GOP does a damn thing about it.

I am so disgusted with these "so-called" conservatives defending and excusing what is going on in the name of security. The fact is that these technologies are the greatest threat to our security and individual liberty, not terrorism.

I agree, kabar! Democrats and leftie pundits were more outraged/concerned about the gov't surveillance issue than some of the "conservatives" this am.
