Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's (R) ex-wife is accusing him of trespassing at her home and the two are due in court two days after his congressional election, according to a report from the Associated Press.

According to court documents obtained by the AP, Jenny Sanford, the state's former first lady, caught him leaving her home in early February while using his cell phone as a flashlight and filed a complaint the next day. The couple divorced after he publicly admitted to an extramarital affair in 2009 and, according to their divorce settlement, aren't allowed to enter each other's homes without permission.

“What if he went up against Lindsey Graham?”

That was my hope until I found out that they are friends.

“I’m a fan of Mark Sanford, because his voting record is impeccable.”

Same here. His wife is clearly trying to destroy him.

Hmm...now where have I heard such types of arguments before?

Clinton Impeachment:

“Yes, he did lie to me about sex. But you know what? I´m over it.”
James Carville , on CNN´s Cross-fire

“I mean, all of us knew he was a snake when we voted for him ...”
Patricia Ireland , NOW President, Quoted in the Hotline

He is a dangerous narcissist who thinks the rules do no apply to him.

I totally agree w/ you. Sanford only seems to think about his needs. He wasn’t thinking about his constituients when he was off cheating on his wife. Certainly wasn’t thinking about his kids...

It seems he’s such a whackadoodle...he even asked his ex wife if she would run this campaign for him. Idiot.

I do not see this as his wife trying to get back at him...all this happened some months back and is only now being made public.

He’ll probably still win this election.

I’m a fan of Mark Sanford, because his voting record is impeccable. I don’t give a damn whether or not he got along with his wife or not. I’m not marrying the dude.

It's not about him "getting along" with his wife (although you have a very progressive view of adultery).

This is about a sitting governor abandoning his state and going missing for days without anyone knowing where he is. His contempt for the citizens who put him in that job was so complete that he couldn't be bothered to make one five-second phone call to the lieutenant governor to have him watch the store. That Sanford did all this so he could have an extramarital affair is almost beside the point; it's a matter of the public trust.

This is also about a governor who used public moneys to advance that extramarital affair. Again, the "why" of his corruption isn't nearly as important as the corruption itself.

But if you have no problem with any of that, congratulations. You obviously fit in perfectly with the state GOP. Honor, decency and integrity don't matter a whit, abusing public funds are fine and dandy, so long as he can win an election, right?

The trouble is the SC GOP has serious self-destructive impulses. A Democrat is waiting on the horizon.

as he can win an election, right

I think Sanford will lose to the Democrat. A lot of Democrats must have went into the Republican primary to nominate Sanford, but they are no longer for him.

This guy's an ass. Is his ex one of the four people nationwide that doesn't own a cell phone capable of getting voice-mail? He's a liar, and he's proved it time and again. Clearly he was trying to sneak out and got caught. And judging from her attorney's statement, it sounds like this isn't the first time, either. She should have him charged with trespass, slapped with a restraining order, and the next time he shows up, shoot the piece of shit.

What was he really doing in the house?

Clearly he thinks himself above the law, to knowingly defy a court order.

Sure. Now they do it.

Too little, too late. They knew who they were getting into bed with.
