GS students were largely strange geeks taught BS Seminars by retread NYC Communists from the 30's. Yes, yes, a GS student could get into a real Columbia course and often did. A GS geek could also, with enough time and money, get a BA, and the degree would be issued by .... get this ....by the real Columbia College.
No, Sunk, the really strange things about Obama at Columbia were (a) how little actual time he spent there, this being contemporaneous with the cool Paki adventures. and (b) WTF did he actually did there to "earn" a degree. This a foggy area in the olde Obama résumé ...time of mystery, complete with painfully fake "family photos." For example, although Obama says he didn't know Ayers at the time, he was sent to Ayers by a queer commie pal of Ayers, Prof. Laurence Goldyn, Obama's mentor at Occidental, where we don't know what Obama did either.
Been outa town. Is it true Obama was re-elected? By whom?
I agree with Kenny Bunk’s assessment.
I was a GS poli sci at CU. BA class of 86. I took all graduate level poli sci courses.
GS is easy to get into and GS students were definitely 2nd class citizens on campus. And it would be unlikely that Obama would have associated with any college kids.
I transferred from American. And Obama transferred from Occidental. These are comparable colleges. Expensive private colleges but not in the same league as the ivys.
One of the guys I know from the time claimed that Obama attended a poetry reading that we gave in the jazz room of the West End cafe on 114 & B-way. I recall black guy with a white girlfriend—but I don’t have a more detailed memory.
As well he says he knew a guy who lived with Obama when he lived on W 108 St
I have seen a phone record of Obama from about 1981 from his stay at E96 st. As well, I have seen a copy of an anti nuclear editorial he wrote in the Columbia Spectator.
When I looked at Jeremiah Wright’s church website. Their afrocentric stands could have been cribbed straight out of one of the Columbia’s liberal departments.
Obama’s speaks pure Columbiaese. This means that he is a committed anti american.
It grieves me to say it took several decades and a condo’s worth of beer to get the crap learned there out of my head.
