Thanks for posting —the education system is being VERY cagey about this new nationalized curriculum.
From what I’ve seen and heard, I don’t like it one bit. I received a sample written question from the “new” CCI-based state test and it was about Global Warming — the question implied that anyone that didn’t accept Global warming was crazy. This was for high school social studies — the state test consisted of ONE written question —kid has 70 minutes to answer it ON a computer.
It’s going to be a nightmare to implement.

My sixth grader took a test like that this week, as his school was selected by the school district to try it out. He was irritated because the essay test was on the computer. It seems that, despite computers in the classrooms since kindergarten, no one every actually taught the kids to type, much less type quickly. They know the hand positions, but, for many of them, it’s hunt and peck or looking at their keyboard instead of the screen.
Sounds like a brilliant plan for whoever got the computer contract and the test development contract. And a lousy idea for the kids.
