In all fairness, everyone knew how the Bible was going to end. Unless the producers had some kind of revisionist plot ending like Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds where Hitler gets blown up in a French movie theater, Jesus was going to get crucified.
The season finale of the Walking Dead was rife with speculation about who would or wouldn't survive. It seems that more viewers were intrigued by the possibilities of the latter.
