“I’ve heard a lot about how horrid the boys were in this case and a lot of apologists for the girl and her disgraceful conduct.”

Two guys rape a girl and you felt...what? That it wasn’t horrid? Would you have felt different if, say, the girl was mentally challenged, and didn’t understand what the guys were doing to her?

Here is my take on this: rape is not just sex but violence agaisnt another person, male or female. There is no excuse for young men or boys to do such a thing no matter whether the person was drunk or mentally challenged.

We should be rearing our boys to be the kind of men who are protective of the weaker members of our society, not men who take advantage of the weaker.

They’d be blaming the girl if she’d been murdered, too.

The fact is, one of the parties took place at Hanlin’s home, and then she attempted to discourage the girl and her family from making a report. She also got the case moved to juvenile court before she bothered to resign for conflict of interest.

rape is not just sex but violence agaisnt another person Is that supposed to make it worse than if it were about sex?

Has our society become so demented that rape is regarded as no more significant than someone grabbing your hand and shaking it without your permission, so that people have to emphasize the violent aspect of it to make it seem serious?

Bingo. Bravo. Raise sheepdogs, not wolves.

There is no excuse...

Agreed.

Real men are taught not to take advantage of those who are weaker than them.

A thinking, compassionate, self-controlled individual would not rape a drunk or incapacitated girl,... period.

You can have "protection" or you can have "equality."

You can't have both.

I'm beginning to appreciate Ayn Rand's antipathy for "altruists."
