The prohibition era gangs were pretty rough. Even Capone chose to deal with the Purple gang rather than go to war with them. The Purples self destructed due to infighting among themselves.
One of my great grandfather did some smuggling for the purples in Detroit but was a low level guy who didn’t see or know anything....ever.

There were still plenty of the purple gang members in Grand Rapids in the 60’s. BTW, Hoffa is in a landfill in Illinois.
