White House: Obama 'Will Not Sign' a Deal Unless It Increases Taxes By Terence P. Jeffrey November 29, 2012

(CNSNews.com) - White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said today that no matter what else happens President Barack Obama--who is the only modern president other than Franklin Roosevelt to serve in four years when federal spending topped 24 percent of GDP--will not sign a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that will arrive at the end of this year unless that deal increases taxes.

"So the President made clear that he is not wedded to every detail of his plan," said Carney. "The President has also made categorically and abundantly clear that he will not sign an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for top earners. It’s bad economic policy and we cannot afford it. He will not sign that."

According to official calculations made by the White House Office of Management and Budget that go back to 1930, Barack Obama and Franklin Roosevelt are the only two presidents who have served in four fiscal years when federal spending exceeded 24 percent of GDP. Roosevelt did so in 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945 (when he died in office). Obama did so in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Since 1930, according to the White House, there has been only one year when federal tax revenues went as high as 20 percent of GDP. That was 2000, when revenues were 20.6 percent of GDP.

No matter what the federal income tax rates have been, at no time since 1930 has the federal government been able to collect as much as 21 percent of GDP in taxes.

Let’s just go over the cliff! My bet is that it’s just another scare tactic to get the sheeple to pressure their “elected representatives” to go along with FUBO. I don’t see how it can get much worse. We need to collapse this central government before it seals our fate, if it hasn’t already.

It is getting so bad with their spin..pretty soon..if the republicans do hold firm, we might actually start seeing images on the media of poor people (or paid to be poor people wink wink) on the streets pleading for money from the rich :) They may resemble the walking dead only it will be children w/tears carrying a cute puppy with a pink bow. Of course,a sign which reads: Rich people did this with that insane Obama logo at the bottom. :) Be on the lookout..coming soon..

Obama’s a Marxist punk. He will never agree to do anything that is good for this country. The GOP has squandered every opportunity it has ever had. They have caved each and every time they have had the chance to win—not just the battle, but the war. They have the votes to win. Yet they cave. All they have to is say “NO” one time, just one time, and it’s game, set, match.

Okay, increase taxes on the 47% and cut all welfare spending by 10% and call it a start

I’m with ya. Anything other than going over the cliff now just delays it and makes the crash at the bottom worse.

1. He's a fraud.

2. He's a fraud.

3. He's a fraud.

Hopefully he, Biden, Reid and Pelosi die (a natural death!) in office and we can be rid of these commie parasites. Probably not much chance in that faint hope though! If there is a hell I'm sure they're headed there!

The Republicans should write it this way:

“For those making $250,000 or less. the George W Bush tax cuts shall be made permanent. For those making over $250,000, the new rate shall be set at 5% higher than the tax rate of Canada.”

Maybe Obama would not like to be sworn in on his fraudulent second term?

"How short his memory is.. He ALREADY raised taxes, and it’s called OBAMACARE. Why aren’t the Republicans shouting this from the rooftops?"

Which should ALWAYS be referred to as "THE WHEELCHAIR TAXES" but won't be ,because the GOP leadership has ZERO communications skills.

Republicans need to restore the Bush tax cuts, defund DOEnergy, DOEducation, Obamacare, etc. and dismiss Congress. Press Release the dire situation we are in DUE TO SPENDING!! Over and over drill it in. Yes, R’s will be blamed but the only good ending here is to act on principle and lead!

Your right..at the end of the day the GOP will cave..just like they did during the market crisis in 2008, they caved then and they will cave again..they listen too much to what the media tells them to think. I say let them go off the damn cliff..going off the cliff will do the same thing that Obama wants done anyway..I say let Obama’s rich supporters get a huge tax increase, make them pay their “Fair Share” see how they like it

This is surreal. Every year we have the same phony crisis. Congress negotiates to "save us". Then, same thing next year, same crisis. Problem is never delt with. Business as usual. Obama off on AF 1 campaigning.

Disfunctional country.

But Boner has come up with a better deal for zero that both will like. Instead of tax increases, zero will be allowed to draw up a list of Tea Party conservatives destined for the FEMA camps.
The tax increase have nothing to do with the debt. For the Dems and zero, tax increases are all about destroying their opposition by defunding, demoralizing and alienating conservatives.
