This Saturday, the Midwest Marxist Conference was held at Northwestern Universitys Medill School of Journalism. The event was teeming with teachers who spoke about the new found bond between the radical socialists and their Teachers Union. The all-day event, which collected money to support Chicago Socialists and featured a communist bookstore, provided students on-campus along with the radical left community to plan the next phase in their activism.
After the opening plenary, breakout sessions addressed more specific topics like the history of the Democratic party, education, and case studies in Russia. In these sessions, speakers continued to celebrate the use of education as a mechanism to insert Marxism into public institutions. In one session, the idea of targeting their message to students, even over the working class, was debated.

To quote David McCullough...”Americans have become historically illiterate.”
There was a decent segment on 60 minutes (accidentally clicked that channel)discussing how poorly educated each generation of Americans has become especially with their own history.
To paraphrase one comment he made...A student from a Midwestern university had approached him after one of his lectures and told him that she was unaware (until his lecture) that the 13 colonies were on the East coast.
My 3rd grader knows this information and can name about 3/4 of them from memory and can pick them all out on map.
Hmmm. Does not appear to be an isolated event.
There was a Marxist conference held in Austin at UT Saturday as well.
A quick google search turned this up.

Obama recently said there was ONE British colony in America.
Jerry Brown now has primary school students being taught about homosexual contributions to history.
Communism Marxism socialism all the same words. Elitist educated leftists trying to run my life. The Marxists should see how they like North Korea
I watched the same McCullough comment. The thing is...kids are sitting there and memorizing everything to get through high school, then repeat the same exercise to get through college. By going in the direction of memorizing...you never connect the dots and understand how one act led to another. It’s just a memory game to get you by.
This also explains why the global warming mafia is able to easily convince people of various things. And why economic dimwits appear on some national TV episode and give bogus information about how the economy really works.
We learned Western Civ in high school. It taught, among other things, of the threat of Islam. Too bad it's no longer being taught in schools.
Re the fact that the Breitbart reporter was physically ousted from the conference for not being a marxist.
Ah, memories of the old day. I was physically assaulted and ousted out of the 1971 Student Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam conference at Catholic Un, Feb. 1971. They love to grab you from behind, try to seize your notes, etc. and then keelhaul you out the door.
Campus police didn’t do anything. DC cops did less re assault charges. My revenge: Had another person inside to take notes. I sat on the fire escape outside the conference hall and listened.
Then I got the school photographer’s photos of the reds, esp. those on the stage. Included Rep. Ron Dellums, CPUSAer Helen Gurewitz, her son Don, and SWPer, Debbie Bustin SWP, John Studer YSA/SWP, and possible Maceo Dixon (SWP).
Still have the photos. Hard proof that the communists controlled the conference.
My attackers, Steve Chase (a reall nasty bastard), once married to Elois Linger/Chase; Alex Chis, once married to Barbara Chis (Mutnick) (lots of wife swapping between them), and two other unidentified cowards who grabbed me from behind.
That is how the communist cowards operate. Next time, bring some friends, some very big friends with nasty attitudes. And a lawyer as a witness for any lawsuit.
Wow.. Mecca for teachers.
ping the lads...academic organizing in action...
ping the lads...academic organizing in action...go to Breitbart and watch the video...a tazer would have been fun.
The reason some societies held on to their God given rights like jealous lovers was because they were reminded of them often in schools, newspapers and public proclamations. In Great Britain, Magna Charta was read twice a year in public places, not that it would lose its validity without such confirmations, but to fix the contents of it in the minds of the people.
If neglected, we were sure to descend to the pitiful condition of man in mainland Europe, where they accepted their very existence at the whim of a despot.
A republic cannot be maintained by a people ignorant of the traditions and ideas essential to their political happiness. We are very close to accepting the pitiful, slavish condition endured by most men through history.
Where in the hell were these kids parents? this stuff had to start earlier in life. Home schooling till 12 grade, then send them out to get a job!!!!
Go right ahead...send your kids to public school...send your kids to college...then wonder why they support the current administration. I don’t have kids, and I am damn glad I don’t.
A different style of ‘Red Dawn’ is underway in America.
The Loyalty Oath stayed on the statute books till 1983.
Now asking someone to swear a loyalty oath to the United States would provoke laughter, a punch in the nose, a law suit.....or all three.
Leni
Getting bolder. They call themselves marxists. They usually hide behind names like “progressive” “democrats.”
Hey Max, I’m Canadian and I think Americans are great (conservative ones at least). I am heavily conservative and believe in individual rights and freedoms, and very small and limited government. Perhaps you should consider you can’t lump all Canadians in one ball before you try to throw them all under the bus.
Outside of Judeo-Christian circles, the Nazis HAVE gotten off the hook.
Most kids today have no clue about it and a sizeable chunk of the world believes it never even happened.
