“To have a voice at the bargaining table, John Boehner has to be strong,” said Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma, one of the speaker’s lieutenants. “Most members were just taught a lesson that you’re not going to get everything that you want. It was that kind of election.”

I’ve heard this before back in 2011. In order for John Boehner to do well, all the GOP House Members have to tell him in advance that they will accept whatever he comes up with. There is absolutely no logic in this.

To have a voice at the table? Excuse me, why would his voice be any less at the table? Obama can't push something through w/o Boehner or Reid and Obama and Reid can't push something through w/o Boehner. Seems to me it's a three way deal.

“Most members were just taught a lesson that you’re not going to get everything that you want. It was that kind of election.”

Okay, so they think Boehner is now the Dictator of the House? Maybe it is Boehner that needs to be taught a lesson. I absolutely detest that man!
