America's coming civil war -- makers vs. takers
Fox News ^ | Published July 12, 2012 | Arthur Herman

Posted on 11/07/2012 3:51:00 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Abe Lincoln used those words in 1858 to describe a country that was careening toward civil war. Now we’re a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.

Call it America’s coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.

On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.

On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Over the past century America’s private sector has been the source of productivity, innovation, creativity, and growth–and gave us the iPhone and iPad. The public sector has been the engine of entitlement, stagnation, and decline -- and gave us Detroit and the South Bronx.

The private sector built the strongest economy in the world. It armed the free world in World War Two, and then in the three decades after the war turned America into the most prosperous society history had ever seen. It revived America in the Reagan and Clinton years, and thanks to the Bush tax cuts brought this country back from economic collapse after 9/11.

In those same years a growing public sector, by contrast, turned Europe into a cesspool of debt, stalled economies, and chronic social dysfunction that’s set the streets of Athens -- and perhaps other European capitals--on fire.

That’s where we’re headed, too, more rapidly than we like to think.

Actually, it would be raiders from the hills striking on cities (liberal softies) at night, and then slipping away.

City dwellers are an incompetent, helpless lot, that are dependent on easily disabled electric powered transit.

You are an idiot. I don’t even live near Vermont. Your making assumptions like that tells me that you would be nothing but a red stain in a tread mark if you took up arms against anyone. If you own a weapon, you are probably more dangerous to those at your side, than anyone down range.

You guys all talk about civil war like a bunch of fools playing MOH3 or some stupid crap like that.

Do you think the armed services are just going to let you take a few A10’s and tanks for a stroll down the street? Or do you think you will take your ar15 and try shooting up the local??? What?.. Exactly who are you going to wage this war against?

It’s all fun, but wars are not won with AR15s and mossberg tactical shot guns with pistol grips that cannot hit a damn thing more than four feet away.

Logistics and strategy win wars. I don’t see many generals around here...and Christ, I am just an LT and I know better than this crap.

“taker states like Ca, NY, NJ, Mass, Il. “

Surprisingly enough, NY State residents and businesses pay more out to the fedgov than the the fedgov sends back to NY State.

Liberal destroyed freedom restricted demonrat run NY State is - believe it or not- a maker state.

It pays for all its social welfare programs by taxing the living shit out of any person or business unfortunate enough to be here.

Surely you’re too smart to believe that Obama was legitimately elected?

I believe that we are big time out numbered by liberal morons if that’s what you mean. There are more stupid fks in this country than there are responsible patriots. Guy , get over it ..it’s over ..We lost and the 50 years of liberal brainwashing has come to a head. This didn’t happen overnight . This has been a long term educational plan .
The balance has tiled away from us.
THEY ARE THE MAJORITY ..NOT US THE IDIOTS OUTNUMBER US

Keep pretending we’re losing elections because of fraud, and we’ll keep on losing elections.

Oh, please. Stop with the civil war nonsense. Do you really expect people to support violence. Great way to attract new people to our party.

Civil war and secession are not synonymous.

Calling for a civil war is insane. Nor does any state need to issue a declaration of independence in open defiance.

Keep in mind that we got here gradually. We can separate gradually by promoting the idea until it sinks in and people accept that it is a win-win for both sides.

It could also make saner heads in the democratic party realize they need to seriously reign in their more insane elements, if any sane people still exist in that party.

You should wait a few days until you’re sober before posting.

The country is already on the verge of mosquito warfare, just like the urban gang-bangers have been for decades.

The armed services are in no way loyal to othugga, especially after Benghazi.

>> “Exactly who are you going to wage this war against?” <<

It’ll most likely be the productive against your kind, judging by your comments.

There’s no evidence that there are any.

"Short of some kind of war, how might you achieve that?

You will never see any cuts in government again. Government will grow exponentially for the forseeable future.
"

Big government cannot continue "big" without revenues of value ("sustainable" revenues--heh) from big manufacturing. The default process will be completed here. Bond investors will take their haircuts. So will all who receive their incomes directly or indirectly from government.

Political/regulator folks: don't blame me for what you're doing to yourselves (not necessarily you, editor-surveyor, but them). All who have really produced (manufacturing, farming, mining, all), take care of yourselves and your families by the following.

Avoid buying anything that you don't really need. Become more self-sufficient each month, and learn to manufacture something useful as a hobby for now. Be nonpolitical (that is, disrespect disrespectful politics). Those who do otherwise are going to lose.

The spenders...let them spend. ;-)

I realize that you don’t have the capacity to recognize it, but last night was loaded with classic evidence of fraud.

Surprisingly enough, NY State residents and businesses pay more out to the fedgov than the the fedgov sends back to NY State.

What's surprising is that people who're supposedly conservative keep coming back to this thoroughly silly argument. No economist to the right of Paul Krugman takes this claim seriously. It is based on tax revenues from high cost-of-living states like NY being arbitrarily assigned into states where lower contract or wage costs prevail. You are getting a bargain by having your Federal taxes paid into states where the cost of wages is lower. The benefits still accrue to you no matter where you live. You think a military base nominally in South Carolina is Federal money going back to South Carolina? Good grief.

Unfortunately, tax revenues from natural gas extraction will be floating their boat for some time to come.

we can’t get enough people to vote a Communist out of the White House

Maybe in your state. Mine and a bunch of other states have voted solid republican going back 30 years.

Not to mention that most of what happened Tuesday night was politically unthinkable even a few short years ago. "Let's go our separate ways" is infinitely easier for people to grasp than economics theory.

Even during our secession from Britain hardly more than a quarter of the population was for it.

I know how many votes I counted. I can go to the PA Dept of State website and see how many votes were recorded.

But I'll certainly entertain any "evidence" you've been able to discover with your enormous capacity brain. Let's have a look...

I've been reading about the Spanish Civil War. Talk about a nasty war.

If a conflict of that caliber does kick off here in the US, expect to see horrific casualty rates and atrocities that would make the most hardened men weep tears of sorrow.
