Anyone think this thing could just blow out to sea and stay there? I have a daughter in Baltimore; this thing has her scared and me too.

If the storm goes in north of her she will be fine. Right now it is forecast to go north of her.

You can't make that kind of assumption with this storm. Right now the strongest winds are on the southwest side. And the field of tropical-storm force winds extends out 520 miles.

I don't see massive structural damage from this event, except when trees fall on buildings. The real problem inland for this storm will be power outages that could last a couple of weeks or longer. Also, there could be stream flooding.

EVERYONE in the area needs to make sure they have enough potable water for a couple of weeks.

Mmmmmm...nope

While fear is a good thing in moderation, your daughter should nearing completion of preparations, expecting power outages.

Battery powered light source with plenty of batteries, a battery operated radio, non-perishable food (with manual can opener) and water for at least three days. That is the bare minimum.

Looks like normally it would move east out to sea, but apparently there’s a high pressure system to the northeast that is acting like a “block” to instead push this thing to the west and into New England.

“..daughter in Baltimore...”

Ours (20) is in NYC -lower East Village - Ichecked her address and she is not in any of the evacuation zones. However- she is trying to make the 6:50 out of Grand central to Poughkeepsie - it’s the last train out as they stop at 7:00. She is wondering if she really needs to leave - thoughts anyone?
