Representative Barney Frank declares that Mitt Romneys election would be a serious setback for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans in a new video being released Thursday by a pair of liberal super PACs.
Frank, the first member of Congress to marry a same-sex partner, is the most prominent figure to tape an interview for the Mitt Gets Worse project, launched in July by the Courage Campaign Super PAC and American Bridge 21st Century. Mitt Gets Worse is a collection of video testimonies from people critical of Romneys record on LGBT issues, who argue the Republican presidential nominee would make life worse for sexual minorities, if he were to win the White House.

“Normal” people will likely see that as a “win win”.
Romney was very pro-gay as Governor. Even signed proclamations praising childrens gay rights movement (NAMBLA sponsored no doubt)
“I think the gay community needs more support from the Republican Party and I would be a voice in the Republican Party to foster antidiscrimination efforts,” http://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/record/RomneyLogCabinLetter.pdf
“I’ll be better than Ted Kennedy on gay rights,” and he added, “There’s something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation.”
So what’s Frank complaining about? It probably will hurt Romney in the long run, because there is a lot of support for homosexuality among the young.
“Sexual minorities”? Oh, that’s rich. Let’s lump them in with the guys trying to mate with corpses and knotholes in the fence. Thanks Barn!

Courage?? What Courage?? The COURAGE to be DUMB?
AMERICAN BRIDGE 21st Century?? Now that is a BRIDGE to MARXISM!!!
I think I remember that from algebra class.
How sweet
Link? Especially for that second sentence.
All the more reason to elect him ...
Good!
Because the "LGBT community" IS a serious setback for civilization and normal American Society.
Romney was not only NEVER for gay marriage, he tried to get a Protection of Marriage amendment on the state ballot.
The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that the state had to allow gays to marry. Romney led the effort to get a Protection of Marriage amendment on the state ballot so that the citizens could overturn the court. The state legislature stalled on allowing the amendment, so Romney led a rally in Boston demanding that the people be allowed to vote on it. In the end, the Democrat legislature voted down the amendment and wouldn’t allow it on the ballot.

Need further proof? Part of Romney’s speech at the rally:
“Legislators so energized to protect the newly discovered gay right to marry had no compunction about trammeling the long established, constitutional right of the people to vote.
The issue now before us is not whether same sex couples should marry. The issue before us today is whether 109 legislators will follow the Constitution.
Tomorrow, I will send these 109 a copy of the Constitution and of their oath of office.
And this week, we will file an action before the courts, calling upon the judiciary to protect the constitutional rights of our citizens.
Let us not see this state, which first established constitutional democracy, become the first to abandon it.”

.
No, he did not say he supports gays in the military.
What he said is this:
I talked to a lot of good friends of mine who are combat leaders in the theater, and they just didnt think the timing of this was right to do this when our troops were in the middle of harms way in combat, Ryan told WPTV Saturday, when asked about the one-year anniversary of the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
Now that its done, we should not reverse it. I think that would be a step in the wrong direction because people have already disclosed themselves.
I think this issue is past us, he added. Its done. And I think we need to move on.
We allowed a Kenyan communist to take over the White House... of course damage was going to be done that is going to be difficult or impossible to reverse. “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was overturned and NOW THEY TOLD. You can’t “untell” something. Hopefully something can be done legislatively to reverse all this, but an executive order trying to magically go back to their homosexuality being secret is over.
You are correct, he made that distinction when he promised the gays that he’d do more for them than Kennedy would. He favored (favors?) “civil unions”.
Gotta wonder, though what would have happened had he not ordered the Town Clerks and JP’s to start issuing marriage licenses to gays. That came straght out of the executive office. The MA supreme court had no power over him, and their order was for the legislature to “do something”, which they refused to do.
The court could do nothing to the legislature if they did not comply, in fact, that came up when the legislature refused to vote on the citizen ballot initiative.
Water under the bridge, now, though.
Dirty trick number 4,318: Reference everything about your opponent as a “setback”. Reference everything about the person you support as “progress” or “moving forward”.
