How Mitt Romney May Lose the Election [News from Virginia]
Tea Party Tribune ^ | September 11, 2012 | Jonathon Moseley

Posted on 09/11/2012 9:47:46 AM PDT by Moseley

On September 4, 2012, Mitt Romney may have lost Virginia and the Presidential election. But Republicans could still win easily.

This election will turn on two questions Bill Clinton is pounding on: Who caused the disastrous economic collapse in 2007 and 2008? Will putting a Republican back in the White House give us another economic crash?

Republican strategists and consultants have been running away from these questions. Bill Clinton passionately blamed Republicans at the Democrat National Convention. Republicans are aiming for “just enough to squeak by.” But “good enough” is almost never good enough.

Now on September 4, Virgil Goode qualified as a candidate in Virginia for President for the Constitution Party. Losing only a few percentage points to Goode could cost Romney Virginia. And Romney is still behind in the crucial State.

Remember: Virginia conservatives were upset that only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul were on the primary ballot. Other candidates certainly bungled their petitions. But Virginia conservatives suspected manipulation.

Is the Constitution Party a threat? It is full of Ron Paul zealots. It has 438,222 registered voters. In 2008, Alan Keyes was ousted by highly-motivated Ron Paul enthusiasts. Chuck Baldwin became the 2008 candidate for President. The Constitution party was originally founded by Howard Phillips as the “US Taxpayers’ Party” in 1991.

“It’s Virgil Goode’s fault, it can’t *possibly* have anything to do with the fact that we nominated a severely liberal milquetoast idiot as our candidate!” PING

I guess it was answered in the article you linked:

“Goode got significant help collecting signatures from the Independent Green Party, which assisted Goode because he supports the party’s top issue — more spending for passenger rail.”

Doesn’t sound conservative or “Constitution-based” to me.

Hell I made an honest suggestion of how to help Romney win and it was met with an attack.

Team Romney is bound and determined to lose through acts of aggression against their own troops.

Not to put a damper on your obviously building temper tantrum, but did you know that Mitt Romney was a registered Independent who voted for Paul Tsongas in the 1992 Democrat primary?

"Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to take us back to Reagan-Bush." - Mitt Romney, during the 1994 Senate race in Massachusetts.

Yep, those Greens really care about conservatism. The guy is a joke, as is Ron Paul. Sad that people like this are so selfish as to try to saddle the rest of us with Obama again.

Who caused the disastrous economic collapse in 2007 and 2008?

Bush’s Fault?

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH.

Remember the day...
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee. The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES! Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest payoff from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA.
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress.

So when someone tries to blame Bush... REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007.... THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!"

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party. Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

*Note that I copied and saved this, but neglected to save the source. If it was you or you know who it was, let me know so I can credit it properly.

Yeah, but we can't really control how Romney runs his campaign, now can we?

I don't know why Romney is worried about the conservative vote going to Goode. As usual he is running to the left of his opponent hawking his 57 State mandate to replace Obamacare with Romneycare, gay marriage and gay adoption and abortion on demand.

Romney needs to be more concerned that liberals might vote for Obama instead of him.

He needs to emphasize his liberal creds, which are unmatched by any governor in the history of the United States. He was the first executive in America to get Socialized Medicine enacted into law. He was the first Governor in America to preside and sanction gay marriage.

What more could a liberal want?

No but real patriots would never siphon votes from someone who can stop Obama. Hence, Goode is anything but a patriot. As are his supporters.

Yeah, and you know what's really sad?

After losing in November, badly enough that Virginia wouldn't have made a difference anywise, the GOP-E will only draw the following lessons from their loss:

1) Ballot access needs to be made even stricter to stamp out those troublesome third parties, and

2) We need to tack further to the centre to try to appeal more to moderates.

Every time, they draw the same erroneous conclusions, and then they lose. It's almost like they want to lose or something.

And why should I give any credit to what you define a “patriot” as?

If Conservatives would have decided to vote for a conservative rather than a self-proclaimed moderate, Craig Deeds, the Democrat, would have become Virginia's Governor rather than the duplicitious Bob McDonnell.

We'd still have gotten in Cucinelli ~

Then, in the 2012 Virginia primary Romney would have probably pulled between 11% to 15% of the vote clearly identifying him as a weak handmaiden best consigned to a subcabinet post ~ or maybe to Department of Commerce.

Last GOP Congress and President 2006. Federal Defecit $160 Billion

Last Democrat Congress and President 2010. Federal Defect $1.6 Trillion

Sorry you did not get the GOP candidate you wanted. Time to stop pouting about it, suck it up and deal with it.

Obama or Romney will be the next President. Spending all your time squealing about Romney does one thing, help Re-Elect Obama. This nation cannot survive 4 more years of Obama. Between his judicial appointments, his Executive Orders and his Energy Policy you will not recognize this nation in 2016. That is too high a price to pay just to assuage your hurt feelings!

So sorry your feelings were hurt, get over it.
