Mr. Armstrong’s courage and adventurous spirit was huge in defeating the Soviet Union in the propaganda war between the east and west. The race to the moon proved once and for all the USA was the superior system of government.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Armstrong. You are one of my few remaining heros.
May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family.
Godspeed, Neil Armstrong. Another childhood hero meets his maker.
When I was a little kid, all I wanted to be was an astronaut. They were all my heroes, but perhaps none more than Armstrong. To be the first human being to set foot on another planetary body (or moon, to be specific). Wow, just wow.
RIP to an American hero.
RIP to a legendary American hero.

ARMSTRONGS SECRET, GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOU SMILE
In case you didnt already know this little tidbit of trivia, it might make you chuckle when you read it.
ON JULY 20, 1969, AS COMMANDER OF THE APOLLO 11 LUNAR MODULE, NEIL ARMSTRONG WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO SET FOOT ON THE MOON.
HIS FIRST WORDS AFTER STEPPING ON THE MOON, THATS ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN, ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND, WERE TELEVISED TO EARTH AND HEARD BY MILLIONS.
BUT JUST BEFORE HE RE-ENTERED THE LANDER, HE MADE THE ENIGMATIC REMARK GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY.
MANY PEOPLE AT NASA THOUGH IT WAS A CASUAL REMARK CONCERNING SOME RIVAL SOVIET COSMONAUT.
HOWEVER, UPON CHECKING, THERE WAS NO GORSKY IN EITHER THE RUSSIAN OR AMERICAN SPACE PROGRAMS.
OVER THE YEARS MANY PEOPLE QUESTIONED ARMSTRONG AS TO WHAT THE GOOD LUCK, MR. GORSKY STATEMENT MEANT, BUT ARMSTRONG ALWAYS JUST SMILED.
ON JULY 5, 1995, IN TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA , WHILE ANSWERING QUESTIONS FOLLOWING A SPEECH, A REPORTER BROUGHT UP THE 26- YEAR-OLD QUESTION TO ARMSTRONG. THIS TIME HE FINALLY RESPONDED.
MR. GORSKY HAD DIED, SO NEIL ARMSTRONG FELT HE COULD NOW ANSWER THE QUESTION.
IN 1938, WHEN HE WAS A KID IN A SMALL MID-WESTERN TOWN, HE WAS PLAYING BASEBALL WITH A FRIEND IN THE BACK YARD. HIS FRIEND HIT THE BALL, WHICH LANDED IN HIS NEIGHBORS YARD BY THEIR BEDROOM WINDOW.
HIS NEIGHBORS WERE MR. AND MRS. GORSKY. AS HE LEANED DOWN TO PICK UP THE BALL, YOUNG ARMSTRONG HEARD MRS.GORSKY SHOUTING AT MR. GORSKY.
SEX! YOU WANT SEX?! YOULL GET SEX WHEN THE KID NEXT DOOR WALKS ON THE MOON!
TRUE STORY.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
True? I don’t know. The Interwebz Tubes contain lots of false stuff. If you are interested, find out for us. In the meantime, I like it.
RIP, Neil Armstrong, from one Boilermaker to another.
A great man who never tried to capitalize on his fame. They don’t make them that way any more. A true American hero.
R.I.P. Eagle.
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon...
Neil was a National Treasure. The more you learn about his life, the smaller yours becomes.
I did get a laugh after reading the MSNBC announcement of his passing. I continued to read down through the comments section and discovered MSNBC had initially posted the story about “Neil Young” first man on the moon dies instead of “Neil Armstrong”.
Imagine if FOX had done this.
Side Bar: A small plane is flying over Tampa with a pro Obama Statement with misused, misspelled words on FOX now
If memory serves me well didn’t you have your picture taken with Buzz Aldrin?
RIP Neil Armstrong.
RIP Commander Armstrong
He needs a state funeral, like a former president or other grandee. His was one of the great accomplishments of mankind.
Neil Armstrong was among the best that this country has ever produced. When it came time for NASA to pick an astronaut to be the first to walk on the moon, everyone already knew who the choice would be. The best mind, the best ability, and one of the most skilled pilots to ever step into a cockpit. Russia, Germany, Japan, France, England, could never have produced a Neil Armstrong. It may be a long long time before we ever have a true American Hero like this. And I almost weep when I look at his face, knowing what America once was.
Childhood hero gone. Love you, man!
Rest in Peace!
Tearing up
RIP....
Has to be regarded as one of the greatest Americans.
From the few times I’ve seen him on camera, it seemed to come through, what a genuinely good person he was.
