You couldn’t have a calmer dog friend than Ash.

On the way home from church this afternoon, we saw a hawk being chased by a sparrow.

"I don’t recall where I put my invisible cloak."

I read recently that a cane or a wheelchair (Post 1328) could also confer invisibility.

Ya gotta use the tools available!

Oh, by the way; I bought one of those camouflage jackets a while back, but now I can't find it.

Dona Edra, the Spanish Battleaxe, has a cane. I’ve seen her trip people with it, but I didn’t say anything.

Thank you very much. I am so far behind as far as reading/studying the UT thread is concerned that I’m embarrased. Hopefully, when the garden slows down, I’ll be able to catch up on UT theory. Mr. Sg delivered a set of stairs he built for our dear neighbor who risked his life in Korea and Viet Nam for us. Hopefully, he (our neighbor) won’t fall again. I really have to have a heart-to-heart talk w/him. He is one of three friends I have here in TN. Please pray that I can talk him out of risking the integrity of his physical entity if he insists on being so darned independent. (He fed the horse and the peacocks today and almost fell again. Fortunately, his daughter was visiting him, so she helped Mr. Sg place the stair steps.) Sorry I’m so whiny but I need the UTers’ prayers.
Gotta get up early tomorrow to pick up some shims for his new steps so that he doesn’t lose his balance.
Good night and sweet dreams, y’all!

Kubler-Ross? My memory’s getting worse. Doesn’t matter. Please just pray that we can do what is needed as effectively and as efficiently as possible. Sweet dreams, my FRiend!

Prayers up for your neighbor. My grandmother was like that, kept doing things she wasn’t supposed to because she wouldn’t let anyone help.

"Hopefully, when the garden slows down, I’ll be able to catch up on UT theory."

Perhaps it would be best if I summarized a bit. UT Theory has many architects. Originally, all was happenstance. It could be argued that is today still the case.

When we actually started construction, it followed some plans I had laying around for a castle.

Considering that we had many heads to find food and shelter for, the castle seemed a good fit to the needs. That we had ongoing excavation work underground because of rumors that valuable gems and magical items were buried there was providing a lot of building material that only had to be assembled. With material and building plans in hand, and many willing hands to assist, the castle was assembled in relatively short order.

That's when we made the mistake of trying to organize a gargantuan Thanksgiving party, and when we acquired our plesiosaur. Being late to the party, she ended up in the moat, and stayed there.

So I was generally involved from the beginning with some of the engineering work. The magic, or whatever the influence was, predated even our arrival here. Apparently the site attracted people with odd interests, and had done so for some time. Musing about what could be the cause, I speculated that what looked like a small meteor impact crater was actually the location of a crashed alien spacecraft.

One person's magic is another's technology, and vice versa. Suffice it to say that nothing remained of the original material except microscopic fragments. But thinking about nano-technology, that could possibly be enough.

Certainly something odd needs to be invoked to explain the unusual behavior of certain doors and lower-level corridors, which have not yet been accurately mapped for the same reason that icebergs do not get marked on a map.

That much should explain perhaps the first six months or so.

Shims?

Do you know why I’m truly looking forward to the End of the World As We Know It? Because then, I can send all the male family members out to live in the woods with the sanitary habits of gorillas, which is what they’ve always wanted anyway.

Anoreth can come and defend the girls and me, and I will clean for us. So there. Other ladies may join us, if they are cheerful or have a skill.

LOL!
There was once (about 20 years ago) a man with a wooden leg who would ride the bus. He was nasty and bitter, and would stick his wooden leg into the aisle to trip unsuspecting passengers, then curse them for not looking where they were going.

The only time he talked was to bitch people out. If his attention was brought to the incident he became almost livid in his anger. *shudder*

I don’t like any thread for the UT that has a basis in religion, no matter whose religion it is.

Include me in. I love to cook! I can give Anoreth a backup—I’m respectable w/a blowgun and studied esoteric Chinese weapons for two years.

Not certain of what the question is so I’ll give you the whole megillah. A shim is a wooden wafer of a thickness that graduates from zilch to about 1/4 inch; sort of a wedge-type thingie approximately 5 inches in length that you stick into places where you want to stop things from jiggling or you need to minimize a gap. Mr. Sg made a set of steps for our neighbor so that he’d stop falling and hurting his knee. The porch upon which the steps were placed was uneven, so the steps wiggled almost imperceptibly. Mr. Sg doesn’t tolerate imperfection on any level so he rousted me out of bed early so that he could remediate the deficiency. We had to feed the horse and the peacocks there anyway, and we picked up a few grocery items (Hass avocadoes on sale).
