My favorite song with a city or town in it is Dylan's "Talkin' New York."

At the end of the song, when he is through describing how fed up with New York City and how awful he was treated there, he says he's gonna head for Western skies.

"So long, New York. Howdy . . .

East Orange."

Where I was born.

If you can stand Bob Dylan, here it is.

There have been some good ones so far.

But no one seems to have mentioned Linda Ronstadt's cover of Willin'

Personally, among locations mentioned in the song; I have been in Dallas, Tuscon, Tucumcari, Tehachapi (there is a truck scale there on the Westbound side, and they are grim-faced and serious at that one, no joke) and Tonapah, but I never smuggled smokes, nor folks from Mexico, although I have driven backroads to avoid having them take a peek at my logbook...

Weeds (cigarettes), whites, and wine can work, minus the the whites and the wine, in fact is absolutely necessary, but keep the coffee coming. The Colombian at the Pilot TS's is usually drinkable.

Good morning, Everyone.

Good morning to our

Military, our Allies, and their families.

Thank you, fatima, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.
Well first up Publius posted Summer in the City
which put me right in the mood
to start clicking links.

The DC Metroland weather report

~ Today...Sunny.
Highs in the lower 80s.
Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

~ Tonight...Mostly clear.
Lows around 60.
East winds 5 to 10 mph.

Okay, who is sending the hot, hot weather to the east coast?
We've been perfectly fine and now
weatherman said storms and mid-90s on the way.

Time for me to make my rounds.
But, you stay right where you are.
Don't leave the room...I'll be bock!

Remember, the Canteen is

Come in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee, tea
pancakes, conversation, silliness,
and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM - DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

“My City Was Gone” by The Pretenders. Only because when I hear it I can take a deep breath and relax — ‘cause it’s Rush’s theme song. If I know Rush is around, I feel all warm and fuzzy, and hopeful.
