You put a sarcasm tag on that, but you're more right than you realize. The officers will present the party line, and the enlisted know better than to gripe in front of the officers. Hence the illusion that "everyone's fine with this."
The /s was a comment about my disgust for Panetta’s lie. Having a son in the Army, and many family members who have served since the start of the Afghanistan war (7 total), I’m very aware that the military under the homo-in-chief isn’t allowed to voice their true opinions on this issue.
