The actual Republican Establishment — political consultants, The Wall Street Journal, corporate America, former Bush advisers and television pundits — are exhorting Mitt Romney to flip-flop on his very non-Establishment position on illegal immigration.

Both as governor of Massachusetts and as a presidential candidate, Romney has supported a fence on the border, E-Verify to ensure that employees are legal and allowing state police to arrest illegal aliens. He is the rare Republican who recognizes that in-state tuition, driver’s licenses and amnesty are magnets for more illegal immigration.

I understand his issues. Romney has some serious issues. I personally despise his politics. But what are we to do? Write in someone to defeat Obama?

Romney is what we are left with. We didn’t choose him. How he has been chosen defies our sense of logic and reason. Maybe these things are fixed from the get go? Whatever the case, the gop voters have allegedly chosen Romney. Not my choice, nor yours, nor anyone I know, for that matter. But it is what it is. So now what? Don’t vote? Give Obama a landslide?

Yes, i have seen that posted a thousand times from that site. Do you know who owns that site, because just like the other anti romney site posted from frequently, its backers are hidden behind a proxy. On the other hand, I can read thousands of news sites from that time, as well as look at Mass law, and I can’t seem to find any that agree with that article. Then again, there is also the fact that I was following the issue closely, because by ailing father at the time, he passed away last year, anyway he was from Mass, and was deeply interested in the fact that his former states courts were forcing gay marriage down the throat of the people, and there wasn’t a damned thing the gov could do to stop it. Romney is bad in a lot of ways, but to pretend that the bastard in the WH is not 10 times worse is to ignore reality. And to pretend that anyone else has a chance to win is beyond reality.

I looked again at the website. It has loads of links to mass.gov to the statutes and the blog of a Boston lawyer who wrote extensively about it under his own name. I think you would deny anything that reflects badly on Romney otherwise you wouldn’t have come up with such a lame excuse.

Ok, well that’s better. We aren’t in as big of a disagreement than it seemed earlier.

But just to be clear, I am vehemently anti-Romney. :-)

What I chose to respond to goes along with that. I find that a lot of people can’t handle the fact that Romney isn’t a conservative, isn’t liked by conservatives, and many conservatives will indeed choose to stay home rather than vote for a big government republican, but instead of examining Romney’s record they’ll simply chalk up the entire thing to anti-Mormon bigotry. If that’s not you, then I apologize.

The simple fact of the matter is that America just isn’t as bigoted as the media makes us out to be.

The reality - either Romney or Obama will be inaugurated on Jan 20, 2013. Ignoring this while attempting to form strategies and tactics to advance the conservative agenda is folly.

One reason I'll vote against Obama: the Harriet Meyers example. GWB wanted Meyers. Because GWB was a Republican, conservatives got Samuel Alito. We have no chance of getting another Alito with Obama. If we get Mitt and replace both Lugar and Hatch (and possibly Snowe) with conservatives, we can get another Alito.

He is not 10 times better than Obama, and if you think he'll replace Holder with a Conservative, dream again, Mitt's record is one that leans towards him nominating another establishment liberal Republican like himself, and he'll have the support of Democrats and RINOs in Congress.

I understand your conviction. Not all that unlike mine. But when faced with no alternative, like we are now, it’s Romney, or the current communist in chief. Under the circumstance, I am forced to go with the second most despicable of the two. And, from where I sit, there is no alternative, other than to give Obama another 4.
