I don't think anyone disagrees that was a bad move on Perry's part. But he acknowledged it was a poor choice of words. He apologized genuinely, and often. But no one wanted to accept it. Now look where we are.
I started out really not particularly liking Perry at all.
One day I shut up because I had to give him a lot of credit for handling a really bad situation with humor and grace. He also backed out with same grace that I could never attribute to Newt Gingrich.
I don’t know if it was the back surgery or what, but he could have done far better. He seemed unable to fight at the time.
Maybe someone was looking out for him, who can say?
We are where we are and there isn’t a damned thing either of us can do about it at this point.
I will assign blame/credit as I choose and you can do the same.
My position remains unchanged. If Perry had stuck to the things he REALLY believes, as he so well articulated in his book, and told Dave Carney and his ilk to take a hike he would be our nominee today.
