SANFORD -- Rosetta Williams, one of six girls who were the first to integrate Seminole High School in 1965, thought the world had come further.
Yet 47 years later, Williams left her Deltona home on Saturday morning to rally for justice, not only for Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old shot and killed in Sanford, but for her own grandchildren and others.
"We did this when we were young," Williams said. "It's a shame we have to do this again in 2012."
Williams was one of more than 140 Volusia and Flagler area residents who participated in a march and rally in Sanford, which drew an estimated 1,200 people. Among the group were 54 Bethune-Cookman University students and 75 Flagler County residents. The march was organized by the Florida chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
State and national NAACP leaders, accompanied by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, led the march to the Sanford Police Department from a local school that served black students during the segregation era. The march ended with a nearly two-hour rally.
"We live in the middle of an American paradox," Sharpton told the crowd. "We can put a black man in the White House but we cannot walk a black child through a gated neighborhood. We are not selling out, bowing out or backing down until there is justice for Trayvon."

This is too obviously manipulative and reminding not only whites, but Asians and Hispanics that radicalism is a power keg of hate. People who have to live in the cities know about black racism and violence. They are not impressed by it and putting it all on display by threatening everyone is not a good thing for the Left.

Trayvon was suspended from school for 10 days. His mother sent him to stay with his father and his father’s live in fiancé. Why was Trayvon sent by the mother to stay with the father during the suspension period? Did she believe Trayvon needed the strong hand of the father or was the mother just tired of dealing with Trayvon’s issues?
Trayvon was killed his last night in Sanford. He was supposed to be going back to Miami the next day. His father left Trayvon at the house alone to watch the NBA All Star Game while the father and the father’s fiance went out to dinner. Why didn’t the father want to have dinner with his son the last night his son was in town? Why did the father choose to leave a troubled teen serving a lengthy suspension from school alone and unsupervised for hours? Why would the teen be watching NBA basketball instead of studying? Why would the teen be going out in the dinner hour to buy candy? Was there no food at home for Trayvon?
Trayvon spent hours on his cell phone with his girlfriend the day of his death according to published reports. Why didn’t Trayvon’s father take away his phone and television privileges as punishment for his school suspension?
The father arrived home and Trayvon was not at home. Instead of looking for Trayvon or calling the police to report him missing, he went to bed. He did not call the police to report Trayvon missing until the next morning, 11 hours after the shooting. Why?
Trayvon had been suspended from school three times in the past year. When interviewed by reporters the father knew little about the suspensions or reasons for them. Why? What action did the parents take when Trayvon was suspended earlier in the year?
The father’s fiancé is not being shown on camera and little is being said about her in the press. Why?
Between them, how many children have Trayvon’s mother and father produced? By how many different partners? How are these children being raised? Were Trayvon’s father and mother ever married? How often did Trayvon’s father see Trayvon and how involved is he in his other children’s lives? Did he pay child support? Does he work? Is the family on welfare? Do the children and parents go to church? What is the home environment for these children?
Were Trayvon’s parents really providing him with guidance, love and discipline or was he just another child of a broken home looking to the athletes and the street culture for role models. Do Trayvon’s parents accept any accountability for the fact their son was running around unsupervised at night during his suspension from school? Have they considered that he would not have been in a life threatening situation if they had been parenting him instead of indulging in their own desires?

I was reading on a different thread yesterday that a Freeper was in Sanford and watched the buses from out of town showing up with the “marchers”. He also stated that the locals were sick and tired of it all and just wanted to get on with their lives... IN PEACE.

It has actually given an opportunity. An opportunity for whitey to face the truth.
Spot on. The new standard that's being set up is: whites do not have the right to self-defense against black attackers.
If that gets played out, a lot of people in this country will decide they no longer have anything to lose, and just shoot, shovel, and shut up. It will be civil war at that point.
