Santorum always was setting himself up to be Romney's VP candidate (vanity)

Posted on 03/27/2012 7:40:18 AM PDT by JimWayne

See my old post that I made back in June 2011 before Santorum gained traction and back when Herman Cain and others were still in the race. Now Santorum has himself admitted that he is willing to be Romney's VP candidate.

Those who disagreed with me do not understand politics. Rhetoric about homosexuality and abortion is for garnering votes and meant to divert attention from fiscal issues. The TEA Party was about fiscal issues. If it was about all other issues, the 2010 election would have been no different from previous elections.

Santorum and Romney are both part of the Karl Rove group. While Romney has been groomed to appeal to the voters in the northeast, Santorum has been groomed to appeal to the southern voters. Once in power, they will plunder the country. The Karl Rove group hates the TEA Party and we saw Karl Rove oppose a number of TEA Party candidates in 2010.

Santorum is a fiscal socialist and an Arlen Specter supporter.

You are not being fair. If asked, any of the candidates would serve as vice-president. It is called serving your country. Romney would serve as vice president if things played out that way. As Americans, they are patriotically obligated to serve their country when asked.

What you say makes good sense.
If he wasn’t always jockeying to be Romney’s VP, I feel certain that he’s always had an eye on that potential development.

There is simply no way Romney will pick a white male VP. Santorum knows this.

Not that I’m disagreeing with you - I agree.

I wish Santorum, rather though had gone off on the question the way he did against the NYT reporter.

Something like; “I’M IN A CAMPAIGN WHAT SORT OF DUMB QUESTION IS THAT RIGHT NOW!!” That would have worked.

I don't think that it is a certainty that Romney will choose a conservative as his running mate.

I think Rubio, Daniels, Pawlenty, or Christie are more likely choices for Romney.

McCain's choice of Palin didn't give him the oomph he needed to get by Obama. Why should Romney believe that Santorum or Gingrich or [insert favorite conservative here] be any more successful?

I believe that Romney will either choose Rubio to make a dent in the Hispanic vote, or else he will choose a moderate like himself in order to appeal to independents and Tea Party members not focused on the social issues.

BS, Newt also said he would be the VP if he was asked.

Santorum never mentioned Romney’s name. So try being a slight bit honest. Take your vanity and.....

McCain’s choice of Palin was the only reason he didn’t go into the history books as having lost the worst wipeout in recent history.

Palin very nearly won it for McCain.

She would have, if Mitt’s plants in the campaign hadn’t undermined the entire campaign, simply to prevent Mitt having to run against Palin this year.

IMO.

No. He didn't. He never specified "Romney"

Show me the quote. Not the media interpretation. Show me the quote from Santorum.

Sorry. Just the thought of a Romney presidency is very upsetting to me. I can’t stop thinking about Pelosi’s comment “ elections shouldn’t matter “ that both candidates are basically the same. I am 100% sure that she was talking about Romney. She already knew he’d be next. That’s why I can’t believe we are allowing it to actually happen.

I haven’t forgotten that literally EVERY candidate was accused of jockeying for Romney’s VP slot. Now both Santorum and Gingrich both say they would accept a VP slot. Personally I don’t think it will help Romney because he’s a disaster.

Frankly I find the whole thing childish and pathetic (and most likely driven by the Romney camp)

Another conservative will become a RINO candidate’s toadie? When will we learn?

It certainly was a team effort to take Newt out in Florida.( and we know all about Ricky’s taking one for the team) Romneys money on vial campaign ads, and Santorum’s mouth whining about the woes of Newt telling him to drop out, which never happened.

More like serving the evil empire the way things are going. If I were younger, healthier and richer I’d be actively out looking for a country to serve. Not this one.

He's always been in it to do the establishment's bidding. That was evident going back to the early debates last summer.

It's despairing to see so many good people fall for is "moral me" roadshow.

Actually, a Gingrich/Santorum or Santorum/Gingrich ticket would be AWESOME!!!!! I wish they would join to defeat the “inevitable” choice. Together they trounce both Romney and Obama easily.

Honestly, you whine constantly.

You have much in common with Santantrum. Learn to accept reality on reality's terms. It's forgone conclusion that Romney will likely be the nominee, which Santorum side stepped for self centered reasons.

He still thinks he is winning. Which will soon change.
