And then there was Eldridge Cleaver who preferred an American Prison to celebrity status in Africa. He left Africa and surrendered to FBI upon his return to the States.
One reporter asked him how he liked Africa and the first words out of his mouth were "Thank God my great-great granddaddy boarded that slave ship! It's so good to be back in America!"
