Official: Gunman in killing of U.S. officers identified as Afghan intelligence officer
cnn ^ | 2/26/2012 | Nick Paton Walsh and Masoud Popalzai

Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai called for calm Sunday after outrage over the burning of Qurans at a U.S. base sparked deadly protests and led to the shooting deaths of two U.S. military officers.

A gunman who shot them Saturday in the highly secured Afghan Ministry of Interior was a junior intelligence officer with ties to a Pakistani religious school, an Afghan counter-terrorism official said.

Last week, two American soldiers were gunned down at a base in eastern Afghanistan. That incident was also blamed on the Quran burnings.

Even as Karzai called for calm Sunday, there was an explosion and small arms fire at Combat Outpost Fortitude in northern Afghanistan, where about 400 people were protesting, according to Capt. David Yaryar, spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

“Time to pull out and let the savages kill each other.”

You are correct. No matter how long we stay, as soon as we leave they are going to revert to barbarism. Not that they ever really graduated from it.

We had a good reason for going in there, to destroy the terrorist infrastructure. But now we need to get our people out. We can deal with the terrorists in other ways.

Stop the nation building crap and start killing large numbers of Islamists until they get the message or we run out of Islamists. Then pull out and return Afghanistan to the 7th century where it wants to be.

Amb. Bolton: Obama’s Apologies for US ‘Incite’ Violence Abroad

Saturday, February 25, 2012 05:43 PM

By: David A. Patten

President Barack Obama’s readiness to apologize for an apparently accidental Koran-burning incident is a signal of weakness that actually incites further unrest, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton says.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax Saturday afternoon, Bolton said that President Obama’s apologies are only making things worse.

“Look, you apologize when you’ve done something wrong and you want to make amends,” Bolton said. “You don’t apologize when makes you admit to a mistake that you haven’t made, and in fact in this case incites the people to do some of these things, because they think the apology is an admission of wrongdoing.

If 400 of them showed up outside a combat outpost, seems to me like we COULD have sent them a belt fed message...

You use an interesting term: barbarism.

Probably the same type of “intelligence” officer who led Taliban operatives to take down the Chinook carrying all those brave SEALs last August.

And, we are letting Afghan/Pakistani's into our bases without vetting them. . . Sounds like the US policy for President's and Senator's.

“Afghan intelligence officer”

Should have been a dead giveaway - the words 'Afghan' and 'intelligence' in the same sentence? Not gonna happen.

Pastor Terry Jones deliberately burns a Koran
Americans killed: 0

Obama apologizes for accidental burning of Korans
Americans dead: 4

Appeasement is always worse than confrontation.

I just look at the middle east and think...

What the heck are we doing there? Oil? Really, this is all about oil and maybe drugs.

All of this can readily be avoided. In fact I would dare say many Americans would suffer the increased cost of oil, if we knew 5 years from now we'd be truly supplying our own. And in an odd sort of way...I don't think the price would jump up as much as it does when Iran says...boo at the Hormuz.

Oil, our own oil, will equal jobs, reduced energy costs will bring some manufacturing back and we'll start paying off the debt.

It is not only time to get out of the Afghanistan, it is time to tell the ME...go to the hell of your own choosing.

I was thinking exactly the same thing....how “Afghan intelligence” is oxymoronic.
