Can We Get to a Brokered Convention?
Real Clear Politics ^ | February 10, 2012 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 02/10/2012 5:18:39 PM PST by Clintonfatigued

The single biggest factor in this campaign remains the fact that the base of the GOP is uncomfortable with Romney and refuses to believe that it can’t do better than the guy who invented Romneycare and talks to conservatives like he’s reading from a right-wing Berlitz phrasebook. He rails about “Washington politicians” –— which looks great on paper but sounds somewhat ridiculous coming from Romney, given that he seems more like a Washington politician than any of the Republican opponents left in the field.

The Republican base isn’t buying what Romney’s selling.

According to a few, Jeb Bush will be the nominee. The Dynasty will continue.

A month ago, I laid out how the current mess could easily lead to a brokered convention and how Jeb Bush would emerge as the nominee. I got flamed mercilessly for that.

Now I have support from Jonah.

If there is a brokered convention, and Jeb is the outcome, I doubt many Americans will vote for him. JMHO

This would be the GOP power brokers giving the US away.

If that happened, then it will ensure that the GOP loss will make the McCain/ORomney loss small in comparison.

I could settle on Jeb, but don’t prefer him. I will never settle on Romney. I wish Jindal was eligible. He is the best one out there.

M guess is that a brokered convention would give us an "anti GOP-establishment candidate", and it would be a "more conservative" alternative to Romney.  By definition, it would NOT be Jeb Bush, imo.

I will not vote for Romney under any circumstances.

Obama rightly points to RomneyCare as justification for ObamaCare.

I will never vote for a Socialist.

The GOP has failed us.

Don’t you think Bush would be crushed in a landslide 0bama victory? I’d almost be inclined to vote against him for no other reason than my loathing of dynasties, let alone his amnesty stance. Please God, if it happens, let it bring us a stronger candidate and not another retread. I don’t ever want to see another Bush or Clinton in office.

Scary scenario, but it's what just might be.
The established Romney is not winning like he is suppose to be doing. In comes the knight jeb to save the day.
Lets hope we are strong enough as a nation of conservatives to put this scenario to rest.

Like some of stated, I am totally against another Bush family member in the WH.

I’d have a lot more respect for Jonah’s opinions if he weren’t such a fat, slovenly, little t**t.

Lets just see what happens in the next couple of weeks and how many times Jeb’s name is mentioned in a brokered convention.
