Throw a football or Frisbee on an L.A. beach in the summer: prepare for a $1,000 fine

The age-old hobby of tossing a football or Frisbee on the beach on a beautiful summer day in Los Angeles will cost you a cool $1,000 thanks to a new ordinance passed by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

Claiming that such activity could be dangerous to other beachgoers, the Supes outlawed "any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll any ball, tube, or any light object other than a beach ball or beach volleyball” on or over a beach.

Have a grossly corrupt and inefficient government?

Pay for it by making expected and normal behavior illegal, with massive $1000 fines!

Some families who didn't get the news are in for a big surprise. There goes the family vacation budget flushed on the big govt vacuum

Good lord, this can’t be constitutional! 8th Amendment issue if nothing else. $1,000 fine for throwing a frisbee? Nobody is going to go to the beach anymore. They’d make a lot more money charging a small access fee.

You’re kidding, right?

It’s okay for illegal aliens to be here, drive without a license or insurance, send their unholy spawn to public schools on our dime, but don’t you dare throw a ball or frisbee at the beach.

Wow. I’m sure glad those jackasses in downtown LA have their priorities straight.

What about playing volleyball at the beach? That’s really popular in Santa Monica (which is part of LA).

See my tagline.

You want to live in California? You pay for the privilege. Just another reason to never, ever, visit that state again in my lifetime.

Remember that “law is force” so I expect to see plenty of people getting shot, tazed, and beaten by the police plus seeing a lot of dogs getting shot for participating is such dastardly deeds!

GO JBTs!

From the artcle:

“While this may mean that some families keep footballs and Frisbees at home, they may consider bringing a yard stick. The board also prohibited digging a hole in the sand deeper than 18 inches.”

No digging holes to China anymore?!?!? What is this world coming to these days?

Does NY Mayor Bloomberg get to rule over the LA jurisdictions as well? Buncha pansies regulating good, clean fun but giving perversions a free pass.

At least the ordinance has a beach volleyball exemption....

...otherwise there would be no reason to watch ESPN2 ever again.

So, now a guy can’t show how cool is he when he catches a pass? That’s horrible!

They’d make a lot more money charging a small access fee.

They'd save more money closing the beaches altogether. This seems to be what they're aiming at.

Lest anyone think I'm joking, Governor Moonbeam's idea of fiscal restraint is closing down those things that taxpayers use and enjoy like libraries, parks, interstate rest areas, fire departments, etc while not touching entitlements for the mooching class. Wouldn't surprise me at all to start seeing beaches closed down as well.

Of course not. The commissars in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia do not want workers escaping to a land of relative freedom, (China).

Proof, once again, that in America you are not really "free".

Today in America every citizen is dominated by a thousand laws covering the most mundane of every day tasks.

Today in America 99% of the population will break some law that will make them a criminal in the eyes of the government overlords.

Today in America you are a small infraction away from potential ruin.

Today in America you are NOT free, you are slaves to a government.

The rich California Democrats hate it when all those little people spoil the view on their beach.

The rich California Democrats are fine with middle class jobs leaving California. Reduces the traffic.

Hey, but if you are an L.A. school teacher, can you still at least take your kids alone to the beach and molest them, and keep collecting your pension?? Sure?? Oh, whew, I was worried for a moment there.
