Brought us "cool" Obama in 08.
Now going for cult-like Ron Paul?
What's with this seemingly dyfunctional group of young people?
Well, I’m one of those young’uns, and I’ll tell you why Paul’s getting blown out with us.
First and foremost, he would end this massive debt spiral that is going to destroy our futures.
the disfunctional old folks have spent all their money and are spending our money and will bankrupt us to feed their entitlements.
Dollars and sense, his message resonates.
But what do I know? I’m just a disfunctional young’un.
It makes perfect sense: Obama soared with Millennials because, and I stress because, he opposed the expensive foreign wars. Now, he is collapsing and Ron Paul is soaring because of the expensive foreign wars.
Millennials and Gen X’ers don’t like the expensive foreign wars. They don’t like big government. Paul is to the right of every candidate on big government spending programs of every species whether it be corporate welfare or military welfare or elderly welfare.
The Occupy Crowd on steroids for Obama.
Maybe, just maybe, they would like to vote for the one guy of either party who will NOT reappoint Ben Bernanke to the FED.
The youth is actually quite simple to figure out.
1. They don’t like the wars. They are sick of it.
2. They are more libertarian than anything else. They want less government control and enforcement across the board.
3. They dont care about social issues. Even the young Republicans really don’t care that much.
I remember a poll a while ago that showed a surprising majority of college students are pro-life. Something like 60%. HOWEVER, only about 1/3rd favored a federal ban. And that’s how they think on nearly every social issue across the board. They have adopted a philosophy of moral relativism. In other words, they don’t believe in an ultimate right or wrong when it comes to judging the morals of others. And we are talking about a very significant percentage of the youth that share this type of thinking.
I’ve worked with a lot of youth in the 20-30 age range. And I’ve talked to many of them about politics over the years. It does not surprise me one bit that they support people like Ron Paul.
In the past we didnt really care about the youth because they rarely turned out to vote. Now the generation X’ers, and Y’ers are starting to pay attention, and they are starting to vote. And I think that is some of what’s spooking the GOP elitists.
