Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Nobody is saying the people cheering were child abusers, but certainly we were questioning their priorities, which I think is fair.

Actually, that's exactly what ROCKLOBSTER is saying. Proudly.

Well, there's this:

I doubt they all are...but it does appear the boy raping fags are over represented in the pen state student body.

Well then, the rest are either enablers or voyeurs.

I have the mental horsepower to understand that guilt by association is a logical fallacy and a liberal trait.

Oh, I don't know about that. Profiling is a commonly used and accurate indicator. Why are there stereotypes? Because the generalities hold some common truths.

I'm not surprised you fail to understand that basic and rather obvious point.

Oh I understand the hell out of it...and disagree. For example, speaking of liberals, if you pick any hard core leftist, they are some combination of socialist, pervert, tree hugger, union thug, anti-war activist, anti-American or all of the above.

You can take that to the bank, and there is nothing liberal about that assumption.

Now I have to go do something productive so I'll let you two keep hammering away.

By the way, I'm not sure, but I'll bet you find some interesting reading at the NAMBLA website.

Seems pretty clear.

Well, let's try this.

If they were cheering, they were enablers. Demographic statistics puts some of each of those other two categories in a crowd that large.

See #544. Your ally on this thread is idiotically suggesting I'm a NAMBLA supporter.

But don't worry - I won't let that reflect on my opinion of you even though you're associated with ROCKLOBSTER through your shared views on the larger topic. I'm not into blaming people who are not related to the original misdeed...

But I should add, if you remain silent on his inappropriate tactics I will consider you an enabler. ;-)

"Obviously more information could come to light"

Sandusky will go for a plea bargain. If the prosecutor begins asking questions on such matters ranging from Sandusky's surprise retirement in 1998 to PSU's affiliations with the 2nd Mile charity, you Paterno fans might not like what turns up.

(we’re on the same side) :)

Yes...when I post to somebody's specific post, I'll usually also post to who they were addressing so they can see somebody else has addressed that.

captain obvious

Let me point out what I said:

"Obviously more information could come to light"

The joke doesn't work if the word "obvious" is in the statement you are ridiculing.

The rest of your screed is, as you already admitted, your own "guess work", and about as enlightening as your weak attempt at a joke.

OK, they were cheering the team on the field. Unless you are alleging the players are pedophiles, the only thing they were "enabling" were the team.

Demographic statistics puts some of each of those other two categories in a crowd that large.

Huh? In a crowd of over 100,000 there are all sorts of bad people, so that makes the entire crowd bad? Isn't that a colossally stupid example of guilt by association?

Sigh - I’ll plead guilty to attempting levity. Sheesh.

As for my beliefs that Paterno & company may very well be facing hard time I’ll place them up against YOUR views that they won’t be. Once Sandusky faces the music, he’ll be very willing to talk. With Paterno’s integrity & judgement already in tatters I’m confident his legal innocence will be next.

Let's be clear Sparky, as NittanyLion can attest to, I am very far from being a "Paterno fan". I just like to get the facts straight, like the Attorney General of the State of Pennsylvania saying "Paterno is not a target of the criminal investigation". And indeed she has even gone so far as to express "concern" over Penn State's firing of Paterno.

Where the hell did I say that? I only pointed out what the AG said.

No, they were cheering Joe Paterno. Try to pay attention.

No, I just didn't think it relevant to mention the straight rapists and ax murderers.

So, regarding 2nd Mile, is all of the PSU administration a fag/pederast outfit or what?

I was. I specifically asked Nitt what he heard, and it compared to what the people I knew at the game said; there were no sustained, loud cheering for Paterno. There were attempts to get a "JoePa" cheer going, but only by very few people.

UN-believable!

For the people who say he didn’t know - or reported it as he was supposed to - or the college didn’t know what was required by law.

He was a “mandated reporter” - the grand jury finding states he was told exactly what happened - and Penn State created a web site for child abuse victims - boys and girls , can we all say “hypocrites”
