I do my best to keep politics out of sports——they’re much more enjoyable that way.

It's likewise with me to a certain extent. On the other hand, I do like it when a private, Christian school (even nominally) beats a state run school from up north. That's why the Texas Christian University victory in the Rose Bowl was doubly enjoyable over the leftist University of Wisconsin.

I also took pleasure in Bear Bryant's regular beating of Penn State through the years. In fact, teams from the SEC generally trounce their Yankee school competition. And that's a good thing IMHO.

Remember, the Confederate States of America thought it would be equally easy to defeat the Yankees, but they didn't reckon with the stubborn Lincoln.
