After a week of gaffs from Gov. Rick Perry, his wife Anita is left picking up the pieces and playing damage control on the campaign trail to steer conversation to policy issues.

“I’m really proud,” said the first lady of Texas at an American Spectator gala in Washington, D.C. “He put himself on the line and is withstanding the fire because of love of country.”

Perry has been in the line of fire, rather, since Friday when allegations surfaced that he delivered a speech in New Hampshire while intoxicated. Though event hosts are defending Perry’s sobriety, his lucid speech was not his only gaff of the week.

“Cain voted for Clinton...and supports Romney...soooo your point is...?”

There you go again, lying. Were you WATCHING his vote and can you read his mind regarding Romney?

I guess we’re even.

Why do you ignore reality? Cain admittedly supported Romney in '08...and would be his VP in '12.

My guess is that Romney wants no part of Herman Cain and his still to be released history.

Of all the candidates, the least known is Herman Cain...and we know he has feet of clay so what is yet to come?

“and (Cain) supports Romney.”

This is WHAT YOU WROTE. If you were referring to 2008, then you would say “supported Romney”, like most Rush and most people on FR - given the choices.

Either you never learned grammar, or you LIE. And I think your grammar is pretty.

So, nice try, LIAR!!!!

“and would be his VP in ‘12.”

He would CONSIDER it. He also listed EVERY OTHER Republican in that list...except Perry. And as found out last night, regarding who leaked the sex scandal crap, can you really blame Cain for NOT wanting to team up with Perry?

Do you really think Perry's campaign put out the harrassment charges? ROFLOL!

Why would Perry's staff want to help Romney?

BTW, the info the Perry aide was suppose to have released, Cain said he told the guy in 2003. But the day before, Cain had said he didn't have that information.

Was Cain lying Tuesday or Wednesday?

So you think that Cain’s supporters will go to Romney? You’re such a political IDIOT, you’re not worth my time anymore.

That could be asked of any politican when they open their mouth. To me the real problem with the Cain episode is that if it is fact the charges were made back in the day then Cain and his campaign have failed. They could or maybe should have make that public earlier on if it was innocent as claimed so as to take away the play. Or at a minimum they failed to have a response developed to use when they story was finally told in public. In today’s enviornment politicans have to know that anything will and can be used to harm their chances if it exist. Cain at least changed to the GOP after voting for Clinton in 92 and Perry changed in 89. So they are about on the same schedule in that regards.
