Iraq War Veteran Injured at OWS Oakland Founder of IHateTheMarineCorps.com
Verum Serum ^ | October 27, 2011 | Morgen

Scott Olsen is the Marine Corps veteran critically injured at Occupy Oakland Tuesday night, during a confrontation between the protesters and the police. The latest news is good: his condition has been upgraded from critical to fair and he is apparently conscious and able to respond to doctors and family members. I sincerely wish him a full recovery, and I also hope that a proper investigation is conducted to determine whether police misconduct is responsible for his injuries.

But I ran across something this evening that may add a new dimension to this story. It has been widely reported that Olsen is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. But apparently his opposition to the U.S. military and the Marine Corps in which he served runs a little deeper.

The site is no longer live, but Olsen was the founder of IHateTheMarineCorps.com, a private user forum apparently dedicated to bashing the Marine Corps. (click to enlarge)

Wish I would have had him in my platoon. I could have given him a reason to hate the Marine Corps. Well, at least hate me. He probably got a big chicken dinner or dead duck (bad discharges) and that’s why he hates the Marine Corps.

“I guarantee that he got kicked out of the Marines. I would bet money that he at least has an Other Than Honorable Discharge.”

Yesterday, on this site (below), the #10 comment said that Olsen had an OTH discharge. Now the comment has been deleted.

“I’m also highly suspicious he was ever deployed to any of the recent theaters in the middle east.”

I saw his Linkedln post...can’t find it now since I’m not a member. They only give you one page of Scott Olsens then require a membership.

Apparently he served in Iraq, but was in IT there.

Yep, I live and work by Onalaska. Very liberal Granola area/ This is all over our local news. How could they do this to a poor local veteran? The family is out there saying that it’s so sad that he wasn’t injured in Iraq— but he comes and get injured by American police. Gag.

I smell some BS!

V34 is a combat unit, they would not have base elements assigned to them. He may have deployed to Iraq in support of V34, but I’m sure that he was not part of that unit.

There a big difference being deployed to Iraq as part of a base/support unit vs being deployed with a combat unit. These pr!#ks always say they were part of a combat unit - but they never are.

This jerk is not only part of the ‘10%’ - he’s in the top 1% of it!

That gerbil in the tube says alot.

He got busted for doing coke and discharged prior to the end of his enlistment. I'm sure it was all a frame-up though.

Here's an article with video of the guy going down; two different sources of video/two different vantages.

I watched the video several times, taking even more close of a look at the second vantage point video. (somebody save this video, please, before it disappears)

That second view shows the guy drop like a rock, and the only thing I can see around him are a few people holding cameras. It doesn't look like anything came close to his head right before he went down, other than a few cameras.

And one other observation from viewing the first vantage point video... I see a tear gas cannister flying back towards the cops from the "peaceful demonstrators" location.

If the "peaceful protesters" were lobbing tear gas back at the cops, could they have also been lobbing other things??

I f*cking hated field day. ...when I was a Cpl, and in for over 4 years ... I was still getting f*cked with on field day
For those who don't know, "field day" is the Marine Corps term for cleaning day. Back in the day it was on Thursday afternoons.
You scrubbed down everything ... wall lockers, bunks, windows, foot lockers, the deck, the toilets, sinks, showers, etc.
If this guy was still getting "screwed with" as a Cpl., it tells me he was a $hitbird, a skater, a ten percenter ... a f*ck off. Now he's an ex-Marine.
BTW, even after 4 years in the Corps he was still a Cpl. During VN I made Sgt in just over two years.

When I first heard this I thought something was off about it. The left never cares about war veterans. Now I know why.

Friend of mine says this site belongs to a Scott Olsen of Milan, Illinois and not the S. Olsen in question?
