Bust the banksters, not the protesters
Capital Times ^ | 10-4-11

Posted on 10/04/2011 5:50:28 PM PDT by SJackson

More than 700 protesters were arrested Sunday as part of a New York Police Department crackdown on the "Occupy Wall Street" protests.

We understand that the police need to keep order. And we recognize that some of the protesters may have stepped out of line. But we know that many of those who were detained committed no crime — they were exercising their right to assemble and petition for the redress of grievances.

If the police really want to arrest some criminals, they should stop looking in the parks and plazas around Wall Street and start looking in the buildings that house the bankers, the speculators and the hedge-fund managers who crashed the U.S. economy in 2008.

Instead of being held to account, the banksters got bailouts, thanks to a Congress that has established a corrupt relationship with Wall Street.

Pay-to-play politicians like House Budget Committee chair Paul Ryan — the Wisconsin Republican who led the charge on behalf of the bailout and who now is scheming to deliver on Wall Street's greatest demand: privatization of Social Security — were more interested in providing political favors than representing the taxpayers and the public interest. But the crooked character of Ryan, and too many other members of Congress from both parties, has not absolved the banksters.

Woody Guthrie well observed that "Some men rob you with a six-gun, some do it with a fountain pen."

Well, the people who robbed us are on Wall Street. But they are not in the parks or plazas. They are in the office suites. And that is where the police should be focusing the attention.

Not a letter to the editor, an editorial from the voice of progressiveism.

maybe for your list.

Rosanne Barr says they should be in reeducation camps, then executed if they don't mend their ways. She's a progressive too, I guess.

What's a "bankster?" Is that a hedge-fund manager, a mortgage banker, or a trader??

The commie libs in the state run “media” are pimping these maggots hard. The headline should be, “Bust the capitalists, not the protesters.” That’s what this is all about. The destruction of capitalism for the global communists by their useful idiots. What I don’t understand is why the morons in the “media” continue to worry about the stock market everyday. If we are to support these college kiddie protesters, shouldn’t we also be hoping for a stock market crash?

They misspelled the name in the masthead. It should be Das Kapital Times.

I think those who are occupying Wall Street have an Xbox Game to play somewhere. Granted there are plenty of crooks on Wall Street, but these protesters don’t know enough about economics to bother debating them. I am against the Fed, but I’m fairly certain there aren’t 2 of them there that know what the fed is or does. And then there are the other gems like: $20 minimum wage, or wages while UNemployed, or my favorite mandatory forgiveness of ALL debt public and private. They forgot free pizza and beer for all.

Probably anyone who works at a bank, those who still have jobs. Folk still working at all those branches which will be closed, they’re banksters, till their jobs are gone, then they’re sympathetic unemployed.

Oh come on Cap Times, let's skip the niceties of protests and editorials and get back into the trenches of a full blown civil war, eh?

Winners take all, what say you Mr. Editor-in-chief?

Open your eyes ,, there was AND IS enormous systemic fraud in the banking industry and it is what is dragging our economy down. Please read the FHFA report http://mattweidnerlaw.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/FHFAAUDIT.pdf Cleaning up the banking fraud and frog marching these criminals to the pen would go a LONG way to getting our economy on the right track.

To some extent, I agree with these nitwits. There are many bankers and mortgage brokers who belong in jail. Along with Barney Frank, Franklin Raines, Maxine Waters and much of the Black Caucus. Along with many people in the Obama administration.

Let's jail those who asked the banks to lend them money, promised to pay the money back, and then didn't. You know, the deadbeats who stole money with credit cards and mortgage loan applications.

One is NOT “exercising their right to assemble and petition for the redress of grievances” when you lay down in a traffic lane on the NYC Brooklyn Bridge or other public streets. The cops will tell you to move or be arrested. The right to protest is on public non traffic areas or other areas by permit or by designation. These protesters are anarchists, youths dressed and play acting as zombies, the usual leftist dreck and unionists all mouthing recycled communist slogans.
