Herman Cain Rhymes with Hurricane: Fund-Raising Surges in Third Quarter
The Other McCain ^ | 1 Oct 2011 | Robert Stacey McCain & Smitty

The buzz coming from the Herman Cain campaign is that they will be the only presidential campaign — including Obama and GOP front-runner Mitt Romney — whose third-quarter fund-raising numbers are better than their second-quarter numbers.

Cain’s strong performance in debates Sept. 12 in Tampa and Sept. 22 in Orlando, followed by his shocking upset win in the Sept. 24 Florida GOP straw poll, ignited a massive influx of online contributions.

Most of Cain’s third-quarter total will be from small donors (less than $200), and more than $1 million of the quarterly total will have been raised in the last 10 days of September.

“Other candidates are raising thousands of dollars from a few people. Herman Cain is raising a few dollars from thousands of people,” consultant Brad Marston wrote in the e-mail

This was before the race and gay statements. Wonder if those will have any effect on his fundraising.

Just when some of us thought that we could actually support Herman Cain he ups and plays the race card. Trying to climb over a front runner by playing the race card is disgusting and smells of the same kinds of games that obama and his thuggery plays.

“This was before the race and gay statements. Wonder if those will have any effect on his fundraising.”

I tend to doubt it. The PerryBots are smarting, that’s for sure.

I think other conservatives for the most part are onto the MSM gotcha game.

Cain has been clearly and consistently against the repeal of DADT.

“I believe homosexuality is a sin because I’m a Bible-believing Christian, I believe it’s a sin,” Cain said, adding, “I believe it is a choice.”

Apart from Rick Santorum, Cain is about the most solid against the radical homosexual agenda.

But I guess we’ll see.

and more than $1 million of the quarterly total will have been raised in the last 10 days of September.

In other words, Cain raises in ten days one tenth the amount that frickin' Mitt Romney can raise in one day. Even Ron Paul has had three or four separate occasions in 2011 where he raised over one million dollars in 24 hours.

It may be a "surge" for Cain, but a candidate that raises $5 a day can honestly say they've doubled when they've gotten $10 in a day. It's true, but hardly tells the whole story.

Oh please. If you ask an older, accomplished black gentleman who grew up in segregation about the use of the word “n*igger-head” you shouldn’t be surprised when he says it is insensitive.

I can only imagine how disgusting you must think Rick Perry is, who played the race card against the conservative base, telling us to our faces that if disagree with his illegals policy it is because “we don’t like the sound of their last name”.

Any Perry supporters should be the last ones to complain, because Perry does not have clean hands in playing the race card.

Take care you don’t offend someone by saying you can’t support Cain because his character may be showing. This place is becoming like a communist collective... if you are not 100% for you are 100% against. Extremism rules the day in some camps and this is feeling like one of them.

Nice try but no. I’m resigned to the fact conservatives are determined to annoint Romney the victor of the primaries. Cain’s small fundraising isn’t going to compete but maybe he can apply to Romney as Michelle is doing for some other position since they both are running interference for him.

I’m more amused that the “true conservatives” I keep hearing exist turn out to be...not so pure. Cain is a disappointment though, he previously was my unattainable conservative in the race but he went and ruined that today. I was thinking of another run for him for Senator...maybe. Now I don’t know.

I care more about the policy than all of this ‘fun’ stuff about being heartless and insensitive. The bottom line for me is that Perry is on the wrong side of the issues and Cain is on the right side.
