As a former federal employee who spent 25 years in human resources, I can tell you this is slanted and doesn’t connect all the dots. Trust me, I’m not taking up for the gov, but the term temporary needs to be fully explained. Any temporary job that is expected to last a year or more is actually a “term” position............not permenant, but one that won’t last more then 4 years............and they get the benefits. Temporary means just that......3 months, 6 months.......whatever. I myself started out as a temp and when I did get a permanent position (which is why I took a temp in the first place, so I could get perm faster) that time counted toward retirement. There is so much more then this.
Oh, by the way, every piece of information you want about any of this crap is available without FOIA. You just have to know where to look.
They agreed to a two-year term position, with an employer option for two additional years. They receive virtually the same benefits as the permanent employees, to include health, dental, and 401k.
