WHEN former Marine Sg. Dakota Meyer joined President Barack Obama for a beer on the White House patio this week, the Medal of Honor recipient was treated to a homemade brew, a White House food blog said today.
Obama Foodorama, a blog that describes itself as "The Blog of Record About White House Food Initiatives," said the beer is known as White House Honey Blonde Ale and is made with equipment purchased out of the Obama's own pocket, according to a spokeswoman for First Lady Michelle Obama.
The President and Mrs Obama first served about 80 bottles of White House brew to guests attending a Super Bowl party earlier this year.
The honey ale's signature ingredient is a pound of honey harvested from the White House beehive, according to the blog. The First Family's chefs have also brewed up a honey porter.
White House curator Bill Allman said the Obamas are the first to make a brew at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
"We have no record of beer brewing at the White House," Mr Allman told Obama Foodorama, although the blog does say George Washington was known to brew his own in pre-White House days at Mount Vernon.
Oh, good then he wont have to collect unemployment after the election because he can just open up a little pub.
We need to include this option in McDonald’s Happy Meals.
Washington not only brewed his own beer, but distilled and bottled his own sour mash whiskey.
Headline should be: “Obama pays for something.

Somehow I can't see Obama or his bride suiting up with a veil and smoker and robbing the bees . . . .
Awwweeee....they are common folks, just like all of us in fly-over country. I think I’ll vote for him next year.

The brewer must be racist and have something against darker beer.
And who actually tends the equipment and makes the beer. Inquiring minds want to know.

Good. get a home brew revolution going and lay off all those nasty beer makers, truckers (well, I guess there’s always a small upside, if they are union) and everyone else connected to the business.

How about suiting up in a burkha and robbing the tax payer?
I have a home brewed Irish stout in my fermenter right now. Needs a few more days until I will transfer to a secondary. Brewed a Canadian Blonde ale that has about another week conditioning in the bottles before I try it.
I suppose that’s one way to avoid the taxes...
