>>Unfortunately, I think they won because of this. I believe she would have been much more formidable if she had stayed and fought.<<

Maybe, but I doubt it. We would have been reading article after article about each and every allegation, and her enemies, political and otherwise, would have poured the coals to the fire until the day she finally announced she was running. But by that time she wouldn’t have had a chance, because if enough dirt is thrown, some of it inevitably sticks.

Note that none of this has happened since she resigned, and that all of the bogus lawsuits have disappeared from view. Furthermor, if they try it again if she’s nominated, they’ll have already been outed as operatives who previously manufactured allegations for political purposes, so they’ll be taken far less seriously.

All in all, it quite possibly was an excellent political maneuver on her part.

By the way, I’m one of those who was always worrying about her screechy voice and was wishing she’d get some voice coaching. Anyone else notice how her voice has modulated lately?

The left-wing political operatives who forced Palin out of office with the never-ending ethics lawsuits achieved what they thought was the destruction of Palin's career in politics. They never stopped to think that she wouldn't retreat, but reload, and that she'd become an even larger threat to them on the national stage.

Pretty ironic, eh?

As far as the possibility of more ethics lawsuits stemming from her time as Governor, the time limitation on that ran out on July 26th of this year. There will be no more of those lawsuits forthcoming, but just the threat of another one popping up, kept her out of the race until now. In the meantime, she was also tapped for Alaska jury duty. I believe that summons ran out at the end of July.

By resigning she guaranteed that the same tactics will be used with even more ferocity if she is the nominee. If she had fought it out I think no matter how biased the reporting eventually she would have had the backing of people who won't even give her a chance now.
