Have people in England really forgotten how to make simple arms for home protection? What happened to the spear or the sheleligh, staff or the baseball bat! Even an axe will work!

I used to have a web page of a British company that made coffee tables of a simple design. The top was a shield, the post was a baseball bat. someone breaks in and you grab the top and strap it on your arm, grab the bat and start swinging.

My father in law lived near Pensacola and they had a hurricane go through and take out the electric lines. He had emphysema and was on oxygen, so I went to his place with a generator and set it up to run his AC and oxygen equipment. I was sleeping on his front porch when I heard the generator quit. I looked over the rail and found two thieves trying to unchain the generator from the power pole.

I racked the slide on my Mossberg 12 gauge and both of those guys took off at a full run. There were no street lights and it was pitch black and they ran right into the chain link fence at full speed. I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face.

I guess word got out, because no one else tried to steal the generator.
