The following twenty-two House members stood firm and opposed the Boehner bill, which is nothing more than a vehicle which will be sent to the Senate, reworked by Harry Reid into something even worse than it already is, and then returned to the House. Boehner will dutifully bring it up and the Tea Partiers who voted for it will then vote against it, but it will not matter. Boehner and Reid will pass the Bill in the House with Democrat votes and Obama will sign it. The votes today cast by conservatives, many of whom are good people, are very much like the Christmas vote for the Health Care Bill. The original House bill contained prolife language, the so-called Stupak Amendment. It passed and went to the Senate which stripped the Stupak Amendment from the final bill. It came back and passed in the House with many proaborts voting for it even though many of the so-called pro-life Democrats voted against the final bill. Voting to advance this bill was a huge mistake. It pains me to say it, because I like many of the Congressmen who voted for it. But the truth is the truth.
The Hall of Fame:
1. Amash, 2. Bachmann, 3. Broun, 4. Chaffetz, 5. Cravaack, 6. DesJarlais, 7. Duncan(SC), 8. Gowdy, 9. Graves(GA), 10. Huelskamp, 11. Johnson, 12. Jordan, 13. King(IA), 14. Latham, 15. Mack(FL), 16. McClintock, 17. Mulvaney, 18. Ron Paul, 19. Scott(SC), 20. Southerland, 21. Walsh, 22. Wilson(SC).
Justin Amash has a bright future. West voted FOR this? Wow. Very disappointed.
That is maybe his life in the military! The call to stand for your country was too great for him! He did duty to the Republican party!
#14 is my congresscriter... #13 will be after the elections provided he defeats the carpetbagger wife of the Ag Secretary/Ex Governor running against him. :)
In the far future Boehner will not be known however these 22 may very well be remembered via a memorial to freedom.
You are lucky to have Congressmen as solid as those two.
That’s a thin list.
At least Tim Scott hasn’t been corrupted. He was smart enough not to join the Congressional Black Caucus.
“In the far future Boehner will not be known however these 22 may very well be remembered via a memorial to freedom.”
Well said. I saw the Congressman from South Carolina (Gowdy) last night on CNN with John King. He said he would gladly give up being reelected to achieve systemic reform, that is: a Balanced Budget Amendment. He said he had promised not to raise the debt ceiling and that he would only do so if the quid pro quo was a BBA. He had voted for Cut, Cap and Balance and he considered that a compromise, one last raise in the debt ceiling in return for a BBA.
Gowdy reminded me of a cross between Audie Murphy and the great actor, Barry Pepper, who played Joe Gallagher in “We Were Soldiers” and who was the psalm quoting sniper PVT Jackson in Saving Private Ryan.
#8 - Trey Gowdy, SC youngster, former Spartanburg Solicitor, occupies the seat formerly held by Bob Inglis who was defeated by Trey Gowdy IN THE 2010 PRIMARY, with a lot of our neighbors’ help.
BTW, all 5 of the SC representatives who voted NO, did so in the face of the Speaker’s pledge to do them harm especially as regards the on-going problems with NLRB about getting the Charleston, SC Boeing assembly plant.
What’s done is done; we will remember these things.
“When the communists Democrat Senators send the bill back to the House, the house can vote it down and it will then have to go back to the Senate. In that case I believe the Senate will not be able to pass it with a simple majority. The whole thing will die. Right?”
Wrong. I and many conservatives (like Rush and Levin) believe the following will happen.
The Boehner bill is nothing more than a vehicle which will be sent to the Senate, reworked by Harry Reid into something even worse than it already is, and then returned to the House. Boehner will dutifully bring it up and the Tea Partiers who voted for it will then vote against it, but it will not matter. Boehner and Reid will pass the Bill in the House with Democrat votes and Obama will sign it.
TEA Party conservatives have been shafted yet again by the GOP Establishment.
Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott are American heroes, plain and simple.
I wouldn’t credit all of them. Reports show that 2 of them voted in the last few seconds when the bill was sure to pass. How courageous! Supposedly Lantham could have gone the other way if this travesty needed it. I hate when they play games like this. Cowards.
God bless these brave patriots. Jordan has already been targeted by Boner’s henchmen — they are trying to gerrymand the OH districts so that he cannot be re-elected.
Boner and the rest of the old guard Statists stab their own in the back, while making deals with the Demonkats.
Which Johnson is that?
I was watching the vote and it became obvious that there were 6-8 Republicans who waited until the bill had 218 votes before they cast their courageous votes against the bill. Same sort of games that Demoncrats and Pelosi did to let some of their members vote no on obummercare.
Thank you ALL...
We’ll remember.
I hope Boehner gets something to REALLY cry about.
Like.......another job.
And all last week.
And all the prior week.
