It makes more sense of the purported facts of the matter as put forth thus far than anything else I’ve encountered. He expected to die, possibly obliterated by the reported explosives on the island, or he had an escape planned. Either way, his hand wouldn’t have been on it, and the MO was Muslim. He wanted to provoke a backlash.
Who I really want to hear from are friends or relatives who have known him for a long time, people who know just what he likes and dislikes. Any incidents in the past which would indicate what really sets him off.
Relying upon Charles Johnson to accurately report on this subject is a very bad idea, IMO.

Yes, details are needed. Personally, I would be interested to know (regardless of whether he is a muslim, a free mason, an aethist, etc.) if he is taking those anti-depressant drugs.
They’re not all that likely to step forward. Norwegian culture is different from American in that respect. You should be somewhat skeptical of anyone stepping forward now.
And Jared Lee Loughner was a left wing, psychotic, pothead, but that wasn’t part of the Rutters Template. Anyone who willfully kills children isn’t exactly from the regular box of crayons.

Undoubtedly he had. But those truly close to him are not likely to rush forward. Those who do will most likely be those who didn’t know him well and are attracted to being on TV or who need to distance themselves from him. It’s a cultural thing. Norwegians are generally not so eager to open up with their feelings with strangers as Americans are.
That he considered himself a conservative is clear from his political activity and posting. Lone wolf? Dear God I hope so...

So far his actions are very cold, very calculating, and, obviously, the attacks & related details were very much pre-empted & pre-planned, right down to picking the locations of attacks & wearing a police uniform, which minimizes suspicion & actually encourages trust in the eyes of his victims. He may be a psychopath, but isn't stupid or mentally handicapped.
However, I still can't figure out his exact motive(s) for killing innocent people, especially children?! Although, his actions per above suggest that he wanted to do something horrific & spectacular to get attention, most likely for political reasons. So, I think your comment "I don’t know whether he intended to get away or not, but given the MO, people would’ve blamed it on Muslims.", Or, something of that nature, makes sense. Regardless it was a terrorist attack.
That said, just because this guy is an ethnic, blonde, blue eyed Norwegian, we shouldn't forget about others (Islamic terrorists incl.) who might do similar acts. Frankly, different terrorist groups actually study each others techniques & tactics. Sometimes, Hollywood inadvertently helps too with their 'action movies'.

mostly in Norwegian so I don’t know how useful it is to you. Google translate should give you an impression of what he’s like. Some of the people on that site have met him in person too and are quite shocked.
Short story and my impression: it seems he was in the Youth wing of the Progress Party (A lot like US conservatives), he was laissez-faire and since turned into a more border and national sovereignty conservative. Very concerned and emotional about the muslim mass migration. If I were to guess I would think he has personal experience with the humiliation of Norwegian children from how he writes about it (just a guess though). And he seems rather snobbish and self-important. -Pompous. Part go-getter, part dreamer, not entirely realistic. Most recently he seems to have wanted to start a conservative newsmagazine, apparently he wrote (tried to write?) a book. -I didn’t bother searching for it.
And it seems he has been going to meetings with people from that page linked above so I guess he’s been trying to network. His activity goes back years, so little chance that he’s a fake...

I can’t imagine why someone with those views, who is angry that Muslims are immigrating to Norway and harm Norwegians, would then go and slaughter so many Norwegians. Senseless.
Very concise analysis. Of course, it’s far too early to tell, however the Norwegian police have said that he’s being cooperative. Thus, the full story will likely emerge sooner rather than later.
Regardless of his motivations, political or religious, or something, this was a truly abhorrent and heinous act. Norway has no death penalty, but once all has been fully ascertained, I wouldn’t shed too many tears if I read that something highly unpleasant happened to the suspect during his incarceration.
If he was trying to blame the Muslim community for this via a false flag operation, I hope the Norwegian authorities would see to it to incarcerate him with a Muslim cellmate. I’m thinking someone about seven feet tall, and built like a brick s__thouse. The results could be most interesting.

Conservatives were defeating Leftists across Europe: the True Finns won big and polls had their popularity surging across Europe based on their opposition to EU bailouts and opposition to Islamic immigration. Both the Left and the Muslims had a motive to create an incident that would discredit conservatives across Europe.
