MILLER: Atheists unbless Texas

Godless group sues Rick Perry over prayer day event

Emily Miller

July 15,2011

Atheists don’t want Texas Gov. Rick Perry to have a prayer day this summer. On Wednesday, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) asked a federal judge to block “The Response,” an event where Christians would gather in Houston to turn to God for direction and unity for an aggrieved nation.

The anti-God brigade insists this is a First Amendment violation, and it will also seek a restraining order to bar Mr. Perry’s participation.

FFRF president Annie Laurie Gaylor says the suit is warranted because Mr. Perry does not see a distinction between his personal beliefs and his duty and obligations as the state’s chief executive. “He has taken an oath of office to uphold a completely secular and godless Constitution where there is no religion in it - much less Jesus, much less days of prayer and fasting,” she told The Washington Times in an interview. “It’s way over the top.”

Eric Bearse, a spokesman for organizers of “The Response,” explained that the event is not sponsored by the state. “Hundreds of years of legal precedent make clear Americans can assemble and pray without interference from the government,”...

...Snip...

The Founding Fathers embraced their faith and would not be bothered by a day of prayer. So it’s good Mr. Perry is not backing down. “The pending litigation does not affect plans for the prayer event to move forward as planned,” his office said in a written statement. Considering where our country has been heading the past few years, we need all the prayer we can get...

Publicity stunt. It’ll get no traction in court.

We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

Hopefully it will increase interest and turnout among Christians for The Response, thereby backfiring bigtime on the atheists.

Being an Atheist myself. I have absolutely no problem with people seeking blessings from their God. We need all the help we can get, and it couldn't hurt.

Warning: The following is a rant! I can’t STAND the stupidity of the masses who fall for this Marxist cr*p!!! and let Marxist lawyers subvert our Constitution. ACLU was founded by a Communist and like all treasonous organizations—it needs to be abolished.

Honoring the God of our American “God-given rights” (written into our Founding Documents!!!!) is the freedom of religion and our historical right. We do not have rights from “allah”. Government is out of bounds to dictate that we have to hide in the closet if we have a religion—there is freedom OF religion in this country, not from it. It is the Biblical religions....not Wicca and Jim Jones and islam or buddhism. It is the Judeo/Christian God.

Funny how these Marxists/atheists allow government to glorify the most vile sexual acts and force children to know about them-— and they treat that as “good” and normal, force military to celebrate their debauchery in violation of the freedom of religion and conscience.

They are mentally sick and can not use logic or they want to destroy the minds and morals of children (object of the cultural Marxists). Sex Ed is to destroy the morality of children....it is the easiest way to corrupt them, focus their interests and energy into sex instead of the intellect which always causes a deep rift with parents. Marxists are about destroying all relationships in the family.

We are insane if we don’t reclaim our right to the freedom of religion—as a start! Government proclaiming God in the public square is historical and only idiots would think it is an establishment of religion. This Marxist use and twisting of words, in this insane manner has to end. Marxism is evil and antithetical to the Constitution. Marxists should be kicked out of this country and into China or Cuba....They can not transform this nation into their Marxist hell hole without Constitutional Amendments....

WHY are we acting like the Constitution was legally transformed when it is still basically the same document!!!!!!! Where is our Freedom of Religion—OUR FIRST Amendment right.....The Founders didn’t mean recognition of “all” things called religion—like “Wicca” and “Atheism”....because it is not compatible with a government founded on rights from the Creator.

The Marxist Judges and Lawyers have ruined and subverted our legal system recognizing illogical stupid belief systems of anything???. We need to clean it up...the Rule of Law—Just Law—Equal Law—none of this Marxist “special rights” to divide and cause a revolution....race war, culture war and make men hate women and women hate children.......we have to reclaim our legal system—Judges and lawyers that intentionally subvert the Constitution when they take an oath to defend it need to be disbarred and all their decisions need to be rescinded if they are found to be bribed and corrupted by Marxism. That worldview is antithetical to our government and Constitution. We need to get back to recognizing treason.

The anti-God brigade

According to atheists there is no God. So how can they have an anti-God brigade? How can you be against something or someone when they don't exist???

Found this group of photos from the 2010 convention interesting. Seems they don’t share your healthy live and let live perspective.

Good rant.

But there's really only one practical way to defeat this Marxist assault on our Constitution:

The majority of the House must be socially conservative.

The Senate must be composed of (at least) 60 social conservatives.

The president must be a social conservative.

And this must continue in perpetuity.

Being an Atheist myself

I've never been able to have faith enough to become an atheist. When I look through the Hubble telescope, when, in northern Wisconsin, I experience the awe of the Northern lights, when I see people and their history over time, when I see a newborn baby or a crop of freshly grown corn or baby birds in the nest that their mother built from scratch, I just don't have faith enough to believe that all that "just happened" with no intelligent design. My eye is miracle enough for me to believe in something greater than chance.....just saying

The correct response is to pray anyways and make sure they are added to your prayers. Let God work on their hearts and worry about the big stuff. None of this stuff is a surprise to him.

I respect the way you said that.I will NOT preach to you, I’m not into that.

However, I sure hope you change your mind on that atheist thing before it’s too late.

You’re right, “We need all the help we can get”.
